(S28) PT 5 - Helping Out

The Boys and Girls club of America was a big part of my childhood. My father was a football coach in the area, and he would volunteer for the organization a lot in the offseason to help keep his players out of trouble. It was a no brainer to continue the legacy and volunteer for the Boys and Girls Club when I made it in the ISFL.
 
This year I asked members of the defense Doy Fieri, Jimi DeSoto, Tex Wrecks and Matt Cross to help me run a fundraiser by offering up autographs and photo opportunities for fans of the Liberty. The event was a fairly large success as we were able to raise twenty five thousand dollars that the Liberty matched bringing the total to fifty thousand dollars.

We decided that we didn’t’ want to stop there as we could do more for all the chapters in the city. We decided to form a mentorship program in the area that all members of the Boys and Girls Club were eligible to participate in with a member of the Liberty. This was not just players on the team but also everyone in the front office. 

It just takes one time of people donating their time and money to open up the flood gates. I hope that I will be able to start my own charity soon.
