Prompt Wrote:As a public figure in one of the sporting world's biggest leagues, you have certain obligations that need to be fulfilled. One of these is committing a certain amount of time to charitable organizations. Which charity would you choose to work with? What would you do for them and what would the desired result be?
Seeing as ISFL players have such great health care that we're currently immune to injuries, I think the best place for helping out is with charities related to harms that other suffer. Personally, I've found the goals of Child's Play to be a good group. For anyone who doesn't know about them, they started out as a group that brought games to children's hospitals in an attempt (in my observation) to bring something fun into children dealing with health concerns. While I don't have any children of my own, that seems like a worthy goal especially considering the gaming-adjacent nature of the ISFL.
I think that as a football player I'd be well suited to do things like playing this year's Madden with kids at these hospitals. I'm far from the biggest star on the Copperheads, but I'd like to hope that there are still some kids who would get a kick out of playing a football game with a football player. I know there are also some organizations which run a charity auction as a fundraiser which often features experiences with gaming groups, such as getting included in a Penny Arcade comic. I could see also putting some sort of play games or go to practice with me as a donation/activity for that auction. And of course, just working with the charity directly to raise awareness both in those who have kids having health issues as well as with my community and fellow players to help direct funds to them seem like something I can and should do. I believe that the optimal outcome looks like more money to help more kids have less painful hospital stays. Publicity and funds would both help with their mission, so I think that I should be able to help them somewhat.
