(S28) PT 5 - Helping Out

As a public figure in one of the sporting world's biggest leagues, you have certain obligations that need to be fulfilled. One of these is committing a certain amount of time to charitable organizations. Which charity would you choose to work with? What would you do for them and what would the desired result be?

I think that there are a ton of worthy charities that I could work with to assist with gaining more recognition for. I would say one that has hit close to home would be the Lupus Foundation of America. In all seriousness, in my real life my wife's best friend has dealt with Lupus since high school which has led to a variety of complications for her throughout her life. As an autoimmune disorder she spent most of this pandemic hiding in her home in fear that Covid-19 would be extremely detrimental for her. On top of that, this past week we learned that the disease has now started to shut her kidneys down which has put her in the hospital for the foreseeable future. My hope would be to spread awareness about a relatively unknown disease, and potentially assist in funding the find for a cure. I think the organization has done a wonderful job thus far in raising both money and awareness, but with a high profile player advocating for them it could push them over the edge if we partnered up. I think with that in mind, it would be a perfect opportunity for me to reach out to a group in desperate need for help, that's what charities are for.
