Very interesting article! I'm a fan of just using yardage for calculating offensive player's value, but this changed my perspective on it. I might start thinking about how I can add first-downs on formulas if possible. I recommend you take a look at Pro Football Reference's blog posts about Approximate Value, they have been a great source of inspiration these last few weeks and are a great read.
