Darren Smallwood would be my choice for the statue – his league leading rushing for several years led to strong seasons for the Second Line, and as the first Hall of Fame inductee for the New Orleans Second Line, he is an obvious choice to be permanently enshrined in New Orleans. His strong play and even stronger character led to many great seasons and a near back to back championship in Season 9 and 10. In Season 9, Darren Smallwood lead the league in rushing yards with 1,534 and in rushing touchdowns with a whopping 27 (the nearest to him had 23, and below that the next highest was 12). Ultimately New Orleans walked away from the season with an Ultimus. With a great performance from both QB and RB, Smallwood dealt a blow to the Baltimore Hawks, rushing for 116 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Currently Darren sits at number two all time in career rushing touchdowns, and holds three of the top ten seasons for rushing touchdowns, including his incredible 27 touchdown season at number one. He walked away from the game at the top, forever impacting New Orleans team culture and our winning spirit. If there is any way to craft his signature bull rush between the tackles into statue form, it would be a perfect representation of his game.
