The decision of who the statue would be of was actually a fairly easy decision. It would have to be Sam Torensen. Brock Pheonix was another option that garnered attention due to his passionate play for the Liberty and loyalty over some not-so-great seasons. However, Sam would ultimately be the one with the statue raised, as he is arguably the greatest running back of all time. He holds the records for rushing yards in a career, and I won’t forget in the second to last week of S28 when the old man took in two touchdowns in an exciting win against Sarasota. This performance brought him to 100 career touchdowns, a milestone both he and the team was eager to see him reach. The statue would be Sam mid-gallop, arm extended for a stiff arm. His achievements and career stats would be engraved in a plaque under the statue. It would be placed in front of the main entrance of the stadium for all to see. The unveiling of the statue would coincide with the day of his jersey retirement. After admiring the statue, fans would also get to see his number in the rafters. The Liberty PR team would produce a video with his highlights to be played on our mega big screen in the stadium before the game. Sam would of course be in attendance if available, and he would give a little speech to hype the fans up. It would be an enjoyable and exciting event for all.
