Mark my words, a full body replica of Captain Rogers will be the first statue to be created in his honor in front of the New York Silverbacks beautiful new stadium. Why would a running back that has won no awards be the face of the Silverbacks over players like Bubba Thumper, one of the legends who started it all, or Sam Howitzer, the franchise QB from the inception of the team? Simply put, being immortalized as a statue relies on more than just on-field performances. But, even if we do start there, Captain Rogers is the all-time leading rusher in every category for New York. Granted, the team hasn't been here that long, but it is still important to note. Moving away from the field, Rogers has been noted as one of the best leaders the New York locker room has seen, which is proven by being named as team Captain two seasons in a row. Going back even further, Captain Rogers is a pillar of excellence as a human being due to his heroic services not only in New York City, but as a veteran of WWII. He also grew up in New York, so he's been a fan favorite ever since he step foot back in his hometown. Rogers is a role model for children, an iconic figure of history, and one heck of a football player. For these reasons, Rogers will be the first to have a statue made in his likeness in New York.
