(S29) PT 4 - Statues

When immortalizing someone via a statue, it’s important to use the most durable, finest gleaming white marble possible. The artist that we find to undertake this honor will be paid handsomely. We expect this artist to spend days alone with the rock examining every detail of it, similar to one of the all time great Michaelangelo. Just like the statue of David, this Yellowknife Wraiths statue would take much time to sculpt. But in the end, it would be the epitome of absolute perfection. The Mount Rushmore of Yellowknife Wraiths that would be included on this epic piece of art would be: Mat Akselsen, Boss Tweed, Nero Alexander, and Danny Grithead. Two offensive players and two defensive players. Two players from the old era of the ISFL and two recent retirees. All four of these players are among the best of all time at their respective positions. They all set records and won many awards. They redefined their positions and were trailblazers for future generations. This statue is projected to take 2-3 years to finish. We will not rush the process. When the time is right, we plan to have an unveiling ceremony to celebrate the piece and remember what those four legends did for Yellowknife Wraiths football.
