It is pretty darn difficult to decide which former otter should receive this statue, considering how blessed this franchise has been to have such wonderful players and executives throughout its entire history. A few candidates off the top of my head would be:
Speculadora/Molar/Laser - any of these three guys would be excellent choices. Throughout almost all of Orange County’s history, the team has been led by one of these three guys. We’ve been so lucky with stability and sustained success, and a huge part of that is because of steady and passionate leadership at the top.
Marc Spector - Spector is an easy answer for Otter legends. He’s one of the first and only inductees into our team hall of fame, the Ring of Otter, and he is the definition of an otter legend both on the field and off the field.
Mike Boss - Though his son can be a bit of a cockwomble on Twitter, Boss holds many OCO passing records and helped anchor an incredibly successful offense (thanks to some very talented receivers) and lead the team to multiple playoff berths and championships.
Franklin Armstrong - All of the reasons listed above for Boss minus the Twitter whinging. Armstrong is the GOAT, and if anyone deserves a statue of their player, it’s Moonlight.
