Something that Honky Tonk will always bring to the table, be it in fights outside the realm of football (i.e. bar fights with rowdy, drunken good old boys) or inside the Liberty locker room, is size. Well that and some sick enjoyment in jumping into these moments. As a 6 –foot 3, 300 pound man, a fight between almost any two teammates can be squelched rather quickly by the fat boi. I mean Haywood’s job every week is to smash into several other 300 –plus pound men and try and wrestle them to the ground. So if this conversation is between two of the players at diva positions, like wide receiver, well…let’s just say Haywood outweighs some of these guys by over 100 pounds. As alluded to, there’s also Haywood’s background and attitude which makes him an ideal candidate to play locker room referee. Haywood was first noticed for his physical ability by his soon to be high school football coach, who was introduced to Honky Tonk Haywood while at a bar. Coach was in the crowd as Haywood intervened into a bar room brawl back down in Nashville, where the kiddo, with the help of some nearby guitars, broke up the brawl by breaking a few belligerents in half. That was back when he was helping set up band equipment for minimum wage. He’s since gotten a bit bigger, a bit meaner, and a bit more crazy. Better him be the referee than the guy on the other side of the fight, that’s for sure.
