Infighting within the Grey Duck locker room is around one thing and one thing only. Getting back to the Ultimini Bowl. The team can feel it, everywhere they go. They are so close to reaching out and taking back the trophy. Quarter Oles is an MVP candidate, Huntsman’s the most dangerous running back in the DSFL, Wide Receiver tandem of Malone and Sharpei Jr and tearing up the league, the defence is one of the best pass blocking units in the DSFL. So with all of that potential, all of that promise going into the final week and the postseason, it's hard to keep everything on the island as it were. Which is where Mason comes in.
When he was a Quarterback in high school and USC, spats between the locker room can happen, especially when a team loses close matches or blowouts. Mason developed a technique to deal with feuding teammates. A simple reminder to his men:
“You can fight it out and you can yell at each other. That’s fine… but where does that lead us?”
It’s a very simple thing to say, but it gets the point across. Fighting ultimately gets the team nowhere, no matter what emotions are being felt in the locker room. People tend to bond around a common goal, so reminding them of the what the goal is can be immensely helpful.
