As the season draws to a close, the realization that the defending Ultimus Bowl champion will not be in the playoffs to defend their title dawns on the team. A couple days prior to the week 16 season finale, a massive argument took place inside the Wraiths training facility. Frustrations boiled over between linebackers Douglas Quaid and Spike Suzuki. Reporters inside the building said Quaid unleashed a verbal tirade singling out Suzuki by name and insinuating others who don’t train and practice as hard as others on the team. Paraphrasing what Quaid said: “Spike, maybe if you and those other lazy bums we have in here trained harder and were more committed to your job, we wouldn’t be on the outside looking in.” “I’m a three time champion in this league, I know what it takes to win the title, you don’t get there by being a bum like you!” Plenty of bodies were in between the two players so things never got physical. Quaid had some parting shots as well: “We have one more game with your carcass on the roster, then your butt is out the door!” With the Wraiths season officially over, all focus is now on the roster. Suzuki is likely going to end up in the free agency pool. It certainly would be an awkward situation if he’s brought back. (225 words)
