There's no question Kendrick-Watts has been as good as advertised. However, to use the 1OA pick on a player who started out 4th on the depth chart at his position rather than an immediate-impact, franchise-altering kind of prospect? I find the decision-making there to be questionable. The Hahalua got a terrific player, but did they make the best use of the draft pick?
It's entirely possible that Honolulu just didn't see that kind of player available in the draft, and the research kind of supports that. This was a draft with plenty of solid players but light on superstars. Had it been my call, I probably would've opted for one of the D-line monsters (Brando or Beanman) with the top pick.
All that being said, I definitely don't think Honolulu regrets their decision, and with another season or two of development Kendrick-Watts has the talent to be a Top 5 WR in the league.
