Honky Tonk Haywood was just a few moments late returning the call to management. After realizing he had a missed call, he checked his voicemail and heard the suits were looking for a player to head to Tokyo, Japan in order to help conduct a ISFL workshop and advance the game. While Haywood does not speak Japanese, has not been east of Ireland, and should probably stay local to continue to train, he couldn’t resist the idea of walking around crushing Sake and sushi while getting the mega-celebrity treatment for a week or so. Oh and also helping to teach a little football. Luckily, for Philadelphia and for the Tokyo Dragons in Japan, Liberty wide receiver Tsuyu Asui picked up the call from management and agreed to the trip. Reports back from the workshop have heavily praised Asui for her professionalism and dedication to teaching the game. The Dragons have shown real progress since, undoubtedly due largely to Asui – one of the bright young skill position players in the league – for the team’s near immediate transformation into a winning club. Additionally, no reports of rowdiness, lewd behavior, or public intoxication seemed to follow Asui back from Japan. A head scratcher from Haywood’s perspective.
