Marquees Acho Jr. has been a solid, but so far unremarkable waiver pickup for the Kansas City Coyotes. However, unremarkable may not be a bad thing as the Tight End has still kept pace with every other rookie tight end in the DSFL so far. However, young Acho Jr. is still rawer than a few other TE prospects. We’ll dive into an area that Acho Jr. can try and improve on to try and increase his impact on the field along with draft status.
Acho Jr. has flashed his receiving ability, but for the Tight End position you need to do more than just catch the football. The offense relies on you as run blocker and occasional pass blocker. Acho Jr. has a decent frame for a TE, standing at 6’4” and weighing 250 lbs. He needs to leverage that better, and maybe convert some of the 250 from fat to muscle, to become stronger and block ends and linebackers more effectively. He lacks the strength to really take the next level as a tight end. If Acho Jr. can’t bulk up or figure it out, look to see most teams viewing him as a second tier tight end come draft season, as someone who you can hope to rely on to be a pass catcher but not help contribute much else. We’re of the opinion that Jr. will be able to show some improvement there going forward
