So, you always have to take the good with the bad. With that, I want to highlight that this isn't all bad, but I definitely have some big things to improve on.
To start with, I am just not getting the yards that I need to. Sure, you may say I'm only down 2 yards per catch on average and 7 yards per game, but in 14 games that's about 100 yards and all it takes is a bad week and I'll miss 1000 yards this season. I definitely need to pick that up.
It's pretty obvious that I'm only getting the ball in shorter yardage situations, out of 36 catches I only have 3 that have gone for over 20 yards. I need to start making things happen when the ball gets into my hands because I can't rely on the schemes to get me into position. The trouble is, while I have the agility to get around tackles or break loose in the secondary, I don't have the speed really and so I should be working on that moving forward.
Probably the biggest issue I have this season, though, is in the drops. Last season I had 11 drops in 14 games and I felt like I was a major detriment to the team because of it. Now I have 4 in 6 games and feel like I'm on pace to have another double digit drop season. I need to pull that together and get used to trying to make the grab in tight spaces.
Like I said, it isn't all bad. I'm getting more catches this season, and so I'm definitely getting targeted more and my 6 touchdowns are one away from tying my career high from last season. It's just that I need to become more of an impact, playmaker type of guy if I want to succeed and I have to do it quickly.
