We have surpassed the halfway mark - 9 games into the ISFL's 30th season and one thing can be said for certain: of all the cornerbacks in the ISFL, Richard Leaking is one of them. I don't think Leaking is having a bad season, but he's definitely not currently in the running for cornerback of the year or anything like that either. Leaking is tied (with 12 other players) for fourth in the league in interceptions, having picked off two quarterbacks this season. He is also tied for ninth in the league in passes deflected after swatting 15 balls in 9 games, including a whopping 5 PDs in week 4 against the Yellowknife Wraiths. As far as tackles, TFLs, and sacks go, Leaking is so far down on the defensive leaderboards, it's almost not worth mentioning. If Leaking can improve his reaction time and awareness, I think he would be able to intercept more balls and become more of a game changer on the field. I think he also needs to work on his trash talk game to really get inside the heads of both wide receivers and quarterbacks - if they're rattled, they won't play as well, and that's when Leaking will strike. Also, Leaking forced a fumble once this season. I would be remiss if I didn't bring that up.
