What is the meaning of success? Frankly I couldn’t answer this if I wanted to. It’s probably different for everyone who’s made it in this league or who will make it in the league. For some it’s championships, with a cold hard trophy and a ring to remember. For others, it’s pro bowls, which are a measure of a player’s seasonal success, year after year. For some it’s the measure of their contract, signifying a strong career and demand in their successful endeavours. Another option for measure of success is just making it into the league and hitting regression and further. The longer the career, the more successful in remaining active.
Personally, I’d say that the best measure of success for a player’s career is whether or not they make it into the Hall of Fame. Many players have come and gone throughout the 30 seasons of the ISFL, but the number of Hall of Famers is incredibly small compared to the pool of eligible candidates.
As a fun example, take my first player, Alexandre LeClair. As an individual, LeClair never won an individual award, and only won a championship in his final season. However his consistency throughout the league took him in the top 3 of receiving all-time and eventually made it into the Hall of Fame. Is he a success story? That’s up for the people to decide.
