This season was an interesting one for Honolulu and their quarterback Joliet Christ Jr. Honolulu fell a bit short of where they wanted to be which was a playoff position but instead finished on a losing streak to end the season and finished just 6-10 after being at 6-7 and having a shot potentially at a playoff spot. The Hahalua were an interesting team and were generally an average or mediocre team in a lot of different categories statistically. What might have been the most important thing for the team was the emergence of their passing game throughout the season.
With that, while the season was an overall disappointment in terms of winning football games, it was a huge step forward for young signal caller Joliet Christ Jr who was one of the better QBs in the entire ISFL in only his 2nd season as a pro. Having solid weapons growing alongside him such as Kai, Salamanca, or Ami and new number one wideout Eleven Kendrick Watts. Christ finished top 5 in the league in many different statistical categories. Christ was top 5 in passing touchdowns, passer rating, completion percentage and was just outside the top 5 in passing yards. What was maybe the most impressive stat on the season was that Joliet Christ Jr. led the entire ISFL in completion percentage falling just short of 70% on the season. He was the league's most accurate passer in just his 2nd year.
This means there are likely more expectations for next season having seen what Christ Jr. is capable of doing now through his 2nd season and him still continuing to development. Honolulu is an interesting team and the offense is full of a ton of potential but they are putting together a solid defense as well so it should be interesting. Given time to throw, Christ Jr. emerged as a top tier talent at the quarterback position and next step is trying to lead Honolulu back to the playoffs under his leadership. Can it be done? We shall see but I think Christ Jr. should be able to keep this type of play up especially with the weapons around him continually getting better as well along with a full season with his better athleticism and accuracy and much much more as well!
My Predictions/Expectations for next season for the Hahalua would be higher for sure but I am not sure we are there yet to contender status but who knows what the off-season will bring along as it happens very soon. They will have another decent draft pick I believe and try to build upon their young core along with what already is there. The Hahalua have a new co-GM who has some success in the other football league, the Elite Football League, so their management crew comes with a lot of game plan mastering and such and team building experience as well across multiple leagues. Honolulu I think should be expected to finish around 8-8 or 9-7 next season if they keep on a similar path that they have been though they have some pieces that are getting really old but a lot of youngsters to compensate as well. I would expect some improvement from the defense as they were probably the weaker side of the team this past season finishing towards the bottom in a lot of categories and others were around the middle as well. The offense is what will likely carry the team into the next few years and that starts with the big three of Joliet Christ Jr., Cobra Kai, and Eleven Kendrick Watts. I expect this trio of players to be able to continue to improve and set the team for the next little bit. I expect big things but maybe not yet, 8-8 or 9-7 I will be very happy.
