17. Your team has announced that they will be laying ground on a new stadium next season. What additions would you like to see included in it.
(253 words)
The Minnesota Grey Ducks stadium has recently undergone a redesign for its field and after two championships it makes perfect sense to rebuild the stadium itself. As a player on their way to the ISFL and previous Captain, I fortunately have a few thoughts on how this sacred ground could be improved.
First, a Hall of Sizzling. Obviously Morpheus was the first to sizzle in name, but in spirit, there is a long history of sizzling on and off the field. Not every player can join the hall of fame, not every player can have a statue built outside their stadium, but a hall of sizzling can act an opportunity to reward players on championship winning teams. Fans of the game can walk though these halls to see busts of their favorite players who won historic trophies and take pride in the memory of better years.
Second, this stadium should aim to be the greenest stadium in the world. Underground metro entrances, parking lots with solar roofs, state of the art cooling and heating systems, there are many opportunities to be carbon neutral, if not carbon positive, and this stadium should aim to lead the planet in advanced green technologies.
Finally, this stadium should have a built in go-kart course. Everyone loves go-kart and there are few more fun ways for a team to bond after big wins. Being able to rent out the stadium to the community for go-kart racing inside the stadium’s concourse would immediately be a unique and exciting opportunity.
19. If your player had a show starring them, what would the plot be?
(205 words)
TV production values are at an all time high, just look at Foundation, WestWorld, and Squid Game. Bold directing, producing, and story telling is being rewarded globally as long form stories told via television series’ are being pumped out faster than most viewers can track them. If given the opportunity to star in a tv show, Morpheus’ show would attempt to redefine reality tv and documentary tv in the same way Morpheus redefined how a player might sizzle.
Mindfulness and existential joy are pursuits often discussed yet hard to communicate. One could read an entire textbook on existentialism itself and leave with only a vague notion of what the word means. Mindfulness practices are on the rise globally yet best practices are truly custom and difficult to define.
A reality tv show covering Morpheus, titled “The Sizzling Soul,” would follow Morpheus’ daily trainings, his interactions with friends and family, with each episode bookended around a meditation or question. As viewers learn more about Morpheus the viewer might find that they are learning about themselves as well. The show would be directed by Denis Villeneuve and produced by Guillermo Del Toro as the meta of the show asks whether or not Morpheus is the Kwisatz Haderach.
22. You’re in charge of entertainment for the Ultimus or Ultimini half-time show. What would you do?
(307 Words)
Sports bring out tribalistic, animalistic, and the most basic instincts out of fervent fans. The screams, chants, and tonal energy of an Ultimus game is legendary, something that might only truly be appreciated once during a fan’s life time. And as such, for generations, half-time shows have been produced to match and then heighten such extreme energies. However, if Morpheus has his opportunity to choose entertainment, he will bring a new dimension, never before seen, to half-time shows.
The high wave must eventually crash. And in its swell, sometimes, a larger wave follows. The half time of the Ultimus is a swelling crescendo. Teams have made their early statements, fans know the coming half will determine the final results, and Morpheus’ half-time show will take that energy and crash it into harsh rocks.
Spoken word beat poetry. Haikus. Soft acoustic music from Bon Iver. This tribe of 80,000+ fans will allow their energy to mellow to calms never before seen in a stadium. BBC news casters will come and describe what is happening outside the stadium in hushed voices. But the energy will rise. Improvisational Jazz artists will be given free rein to play to their heart’s content. Soft rock will be introduced with heavy environmentalist themes. Loud politicians aiming to save the world will be given 2 minutes to give stump speeches to give the stadium the belief they might save the world. And finally, every fan will be given a VR set to see their personal favorite musician play their favorite song just for them. When their song ends and the fan takes off their VR set, the stadium will be pitch black. Drones will fly throughout the stadium, spelling out “You are LOVED.” And then, they will explode into fireworks as the players run out onto the field for the final half.
You’re welcome.
25. Imagine your current position was not available to be picked when you created your player. What other position would you have picked, and why?
(239 Words)
The moment Morpheus decided he wanted to be a football player, he knew he wanted to be a Defensive End. Lining up at the edge, rushing the Quarter Back, there is no greater thrill than beating the Offensive Line and breaking down a play via sack. However, there is one role that Morpheus has secretly always desired. That of the water boy.
Sure, they may not wear pads, but have you seen how swift those water boys are when sprinting across fields to hydrate their team mates? The skill and precision in mixing the perfect gatorade? The ability to carry multiple towels to wipe the sweat off players?
The soul seeking redemption spends time in church. The body seeking refueling raises their hand in hopes of garnering the attention of a water boy. There is really no difference between a cleric and a water boy except the water boy immediately brings strength to the flesh of the players he cares about.
Morpheus has always been a team first type of player. And often, when sitting on the bench, he watches the water boys, constantly running and caring for their team mates with a sense of jealousy. To spend an entire game carrying the team on their backs, insuring the health and physical capacities of teammates, Morpheus can imagine fewer meaningful pleasures. So, while Morpheus is happy with his position, he would hesitate if asked to become team water boy.
