Halfway through the season, the big name wide receiver Bailey Cook was traded to Yellowknife. Shane Weston found himself the big man on campus, and boy has he shined. To say nothing else, Weston now holds the record for longest kickoff return, against the super stout Outlaws to boot. But this is where it goes from neat to straight up interesting. It doesn’t matter what Shane Weston had stat-wise, last year, he’s a monster this year compared to his peers. Shane Weston doesn’t lead the team in targets, and yet no man has done more with less. Boasting a monstrous 14.6 average yard per catch, the man is lightning with the ball. To put it into perspective, only 4 Wide Receivers have a higher Yard per Catch rate. But this is where it’s really crazy, not only is Weston reliable when he gets the ball, he’s also reliable at getting the ball. The man boasts an average 85.5% catch rate of catchable balls. That means that if the ball is on target and the defenders don’t block it, he’s almost certainly got it. To put it into perspective, Shane Weston sits at number two in that category for all Wide Receivers. Hats off to you @Symmetrik you crazy good WR you.
