My Younger Brother came to me recently, Auto Bus told me his grades were slipping and his Hs football coach was going to cut him from the team if he didn’t get them up. Looking back at my own grades in school and nearly losing scholarships because of low grades. I told him “look man, you’ve got to keep your grades up, I know it doesn’t seem important right now. But put yourself in your coaches shoes, would you want the guy who works hard on field but neglects all of his other responsibilities, or would you want the guy that works hard in every class and has time to work hard on the field. Which guy do you think is going to be successful long term? What happens if you have a career ending injury and no education? You’ve got to work hard in every way to show colleges that you can handle the stress. If ISFL teams can see you work under pressure on field and manage grades they are going to be more likely to trust you in a game time situation. Keep that in mind little bro and hit me up if you need help I can get you a good tutor.” I’d stress to him the importance of working hard both on and off the field. This will help you in your career but also in life after football ends.
