The first thing I tell him is that he cannot get into prestigious colleges with low grades. Scholarships are given on athletic merit, but you need a certain SAT score to make it, based on your GPA. The higher the GPA, the lower the score on the SAT should be. Meaning he needs to bust his ass and get his grades up. Also, he will have to understand the playbook. If you cannot memorise multiplication tables, how are you going to memorize the playbook? If you cannot write a damn essay, how are you going to answer a journalist's question without looking and sounding like an idiot? So sit the freak down, and get to studying. You need to have graduated high-school for at least three years to play in the pros. You gotta do something those years, to stay in game shape. And that is college. And guess what kid. You are a student-athlete. Student first, athlete second. STUDENT. FIRST.
