The Yeti are off to a pretty good start so far this season. They are 4-3 after their first 7 games, which puts them #3 in the NSFC standings. They are currently 1 game back from the Berlin Fire Salamanders and the Philadelphia Liberty, the two teams tied for #1 in the conference, and are 1 game ahead of the Sarasota Sailfish, the team in the current #4 spot who will be trying to overtake them for a playoff spot. The Yeti could just as easily move up to a 1st round playoff bye as they could fail out of the playoffs altogether. However, I think that they will trend towards the first option. They Yeti have one of the most talented rosters in the league as they rank #1 in Average Effective TPE. I think this talent is a good sign that the Yeti will perform better in the long run and I think that by the end of the season, the Yeti will have a chance to contend for the #1 seed in the NSFC and a first round playoff bye.
In terms of my individual player, Mattathias Caliban has done pretty well so far as well. Caliban leads the league in passing yards and is tied for the league lead in passing touchdowns. Though a large part of this is due to volume as Caliban leads the league in passing attempts, but he has maintained efficiency as well as he ranks #4 in passer rating despite his heavy workload. Caliban probably won't reach the efficiency levels necessary to compete for another MVP this season, but I think he will have a strong season and can compete for a Pro Bowl spot. I also think the team will do well and that Caliban may have the chance to compete for his first Ultimus Championship this season as well.
