10. Write a short biography or story about your player. This could include background about how they came to the ISFL and how they’ve done so far, a story about their role in an exciting game, or anything else related to their experience in the league.
One player making their first post-season appearance in the Ultimus Playoffs is Gronku Muerto, who plays Tight End for the Berlin Fire Salamanders. He is playing in just his second season in the big leagues, after spending 3 seasons as a feature player for the Tijuana Luchadores of the DSFL. It is a huge change for the young player, as in the DSFL by his second season, Gronku was capped out and was at the top level of players in that league. He was able to win Tight End of the Year twice as he out up some nice stats on the field, even though Tijuana was not able to bring home the Ultimini during his stay there. In the ISFL though, Gronku's level of training lags behind the star players in the league quite a bit. As such, for Berlin, he is quite far down the depth list as far as available receivers goes. In his first 2 seasons, Gronku has been used primarily as a short-yardage option in second- and third-down situations. He rarely gets more than 3 or 4 targets per game, and has yet to have a game with more than 5 catches, nor has he had more than 50 yards in a single game. In both of his seasons so far he has been in the bottom 3 of total yards in receiving at his position for the entire league. This has led to him being the 5th or 6th receiver on any play, and also means he doesn't even start every game. However, he does still have an important role to play for the team. One aspect of his game which was much improved from his rookie to sophomore season was his blocking. He went from 39 pancakes and 2 sacks allowed, to 54 pancakes and 0 sacks allowed. This improvement does allow for the running backs to have more holes to hit, and the quarterback more time to find an open receiver. So despite his own lack of big plays, his improved play in the trenches has only helped Berlin make their way back to the playoffs. He needs to step up big as Berlin has a big challenge in the semifinals. Often it is the unheralded player who has a big play to make a difference (looking at you, David Tyree!). So he needs to be ready and play at his best, not drop any throws that come his way, and give his quarterback the confidence to know he can be relied upon to do his job!
