John Canton is nothing if not charitable. This past weekend he hosted his own charity event for Autism Speaks, an organization close to Canton's heart. Along with country pop star Carrie Underwood, Canton invited the local chapter to come hang out with the Sabercats for the day. They started with a meet and greet, where the kids could come meet their favorite players, take pictures, and get autographs. Following the meet and greet, they headed out on the field to run some drills and learn how the Cats play football. Next, they all gathered in the owner's suites to eat lunch with the players and play Madden against them on the Jumbotron. After lunch it was time for the big event. The kids (with the help of QB Ethan Hunt) would play a 1 quarter game against the San Jose defense. The kids then got to watch the team run a quick 7 on 7 scrimmage until it was time for dinner. Dinner was catered by John Canton's favorite BBQ restaurant, and during this time Canton gave a speech on his experience with autism in his family, and finished the speech with one last surprise: a performance from Carrie Underwood to finish off the day.
