Julian O'Sullivan spent a few hours this weekend in a local food kitchen in Washington D.C., cooking food for the poor and homeless. He thought it was a great way to give back to the city he grew up in and spent so many years in, before potentially having to move away to a different city soon after the draft.
O'Sullivan made sure to be nice and friendly to everyone and gave out food for hours, talking to many of the people for longer then just a few minutes about their life stories and their experiences.
He also brought 100 blankets and a few other items just in case, with winter looming around the corner and donated them to the kitchen, so that people who eat there will also stay warm.
He promised to be back next year in the off-season, after his first professional season to remember where he came from and what he can do to give back to other people, also promising to donate money that can help organize for the future.
Organizers were happy about the help they received and hope that the publicity of the event will lead further people to volunteer and help out in the future.
