This past off-season, TE Joseph Askins spent a lot of time preparing for the NSFL draft so that he could show off his skillset for all of the teams. Coming off a quiet four years at ASU, he was going to have to impress the teams in the NSFL to be drafted. After intense workout sessions throughout the summer to bolster his run blocking technique, he felt prepared for the draft. Once drafted by the Yellowknife Wraiths, he was instructed to start improving his hands but he wasn't sure why the team wanted this to happen, as he thought he had been drafted primarily to be a blocking tight end for the Wraiths. As the offseason progressed, Askins took a trip to Iceland with some team mates. While in Iceland, he took part in a competition that he performed well in. By the end of it, his teammate Maddox had decided to switch positions which freed up a spot for Askins to be the starting tight end! Everything made more sense to Askins now as he understood why he had been improving his receiving abilities this offseason. Now that the season is going to start soon, Askins is hungry to have a great rookie year!
