I am most excited to see Colorado Yeti safety Vash Erikson in action. Erikson was recently traded for from the Arizona Outlaws in part of the Yeti blockbuster Philippe Carter/Mayran Jackson trade. The #12 overall pick was on the fence when it came to declaring for the S3 draft. "Should I stay at Ohio State or should I declare for the NSFL?" Erikson wondered. Eventually he made a decision to join the S3 NSFL draft. As one of the more talented players in the draft he went in the second round. Watching this man's work ethic at my first practice in Colorado was amazing. It was breathtaking (might just be Boggs adjusting to the mile high). He was laying big hits and was gliding on the field speedily, breaking up passes and helping bring down running backs. On one play, we were running the play engage eight. Two corners and a safety dropped back into coverage and everyone else blitzed. Since we were doing full contact drills, we brought in a practice dummy to be quarterback to protect Noble. At the whistle, I started running towards the quarterback. There was no one to block me, so I ran freely. I slowed down a bit, seeing that I was the only one in the area. Not for long. Vash came in flying and lowered his shoulder and delivered a huge blow to the dummy. Virtually everyone on the practice field was in shock, offense or not. Erikson just shrugged and smiled and jogged back into the defensive huddle. All I can say is wow.
