The Baltimore Hawks had a banner year in season 2. After winning 8 games and going undefeated at home, the won their first ever playoff game to clinch a spot in the Ultimus Bowl. Although things didn't go well for them in that game (under statement), their hot streak continued in the off-season with two of the biggest steals of the draft, Ricardo Sandoval and Trey Willie. Today, however, I would like to focus on a fellow defensive line member, Ricardo Sandoval.
In season 2, the Baltimore Hawks had one of the most feared front sevens in the NSFL. The had 2 All-Pros on the line In Kurt Hendrix and Burt Metas, and 2 All-Pro linebackers in Stephen Harrison and Erasmo Broadway. With the addition of Ricardo Sandoval, the Hawks have, arguably, the most punishing defensive line in the NSFL. Sandoval brings with him an unusual amount of raw power, not usually seen from a rookie. As a rookie, Sandoval is the strongest player on the Hawks defensive line, behind only Kurt Hendrix, a 2-time Pro Bowl selection. While his strength would usually land him in the traditional nose tackle position, his quick first step and high football IQ mean he’ll be doing a lot more than filling running lanes. With Sandoval and Metas routinely drawing double-teams in the middle, look for Hendrix to continue dominating and 2nd year player, Owen Taylor, to have a break out year. The future is bright in Baltimore.
