Not by the amount of humans, always by 2. This amount of TPE would then be the amount you have to split between ALL bots you field. The purpose would be to create an incentive for a team to actually try and carry more OL, even fresh ones, without always harming the TPE for the bots. So, since that's probably a little murky let's try a few scenarios.
Scenario A: A team with one solid 7 season vet at 1200 TPE.
1200 / 2 = 600. 600 / 4 bots = 150 So they could have 150 TPE for each of their 4 bots.
But, if they added a fresh recruit at 100 TPE (or even an inactive) then they're at 1300 TPE.
1300 / 2 = 650. 650 / 3 bots = 216 per bot. No penalty for adding the new guy besides the salary cap hit (which would be small).
Scenario B: A team with 3 young but active OL at 200 TPE each in the start of their second season.
600 / 2 = 300. 300 / 2 = 150. 150 TPE per bot. This team COULD add a fresh guy or a 100 TPE inactive which would give them 1 350 TPE bot and their 100 TPE guy, but it gives them options. And this line while being weak now would really grow with time.
Scenario C: A team with 2 solid humans at 800 TPE each.
1600 / 2 = 800. 800 / 3 = 266 TPE for their 3 bots. Adding a developmental player at 100 TPE would allow them to field 2 bots at 425 TPE, but they still have the 100 TPE guy in there that creates a weak link. Adding a 300 TPE guy instead is an obviously good choice for any team and it makes their remaining bots get 475 TPE each, but at the cost of a high draft pick or a decent salary.
Scenario D: A team with a 1000 TPE veteran, a 400 TPE midrange, and a 100 TPE fresh dude.
1500 / 2 = 750. 750 / 2 = 375 for each of their two bots. Would they be better off sending their fresh guy to the DSFL? Let's see, 1400 / 2 = 700. 700 / 3 = 233 TPE for each of their bots. Tough call, could go either way.
Scenario E: A team with 2 fresh 200 TPE guys. Their 3 bots are really weak at 133 TPE each. What would happen if they spent big on an 800 TPE free agent?
1200 / 2 = 600. 600 / 2 = 300 TPE for their 2 bots. They gain a total of 1000 TPE for their line (including his 800) by paying up for him.
I'm sure this idea breaks down in several places, I haven't tossed it around too much. But it would require teams to still have at least 2 active Oline to not be terrible. It also would give most teams a reason to add fresh guys, even as low as 100 TPE to try and get at least 3 linemen.
Obviously you would probably have to tier the total Oline TPE so that the simmers aren't constantly tweaking your bot TPE every week. But maybe everytime your line passed the next 100-200 TPE mark they get to allocate their new points to their bots.
This is an incredible idea.
