There isn't consensuses about free position swaps. I'm not so sure about inactives being useless.

For example, if he has 150 TPE, couldn't he get a contract renewed as an inactive for 500k which is cheaper than the 1 million 150 TPE bot that is purchasable?

Obviously the GM not having control over the build might not be worth the budget but you get the idea.

He's not inactive. He's semi-active. He earns maybe 50 TPE per season. He won't get to see himself play.
