I updated three players who fell under this rule, and most of the TPE lost was on equipment which is easily able to be earned back. The money they spent can just be used instead on S4 equipment which will cost the same amount and give the same bonus so really there's no difference. I think it would have been really unfair if some people would have been able to get double the TPE on equipment then me just because they joined earlier.
