To add to this: when I joined I was told by multiple people to participate in the ultimus PT, I spent a good amount of time doing research so I felt I actually earned my points instead of just throwing together some bs. Purchasing the equipment was probably wrong on my part, especially since it was in a grey area between seasons, but I was just anxious to get going early. Plus I can just get refunded the money and do the same purchase.
My point is, though I may be bias, I don't think it's a good move to take away something someone rightfully earned just because they aren't on a team yet, especially when they're under the impression they should get involved from the get-go. I actually saw someone ask if they could participate even though they just joined and someone (I don't remember who, sorry) told them it was encouraged.
On the flip side, if you told them up front I think you'd lose members anyway. If I joined and knew I had to wait a couple weeks to do anything I'd likely just forget I even signed up and never return anyway. I think I understand why the rule is in place, but really, how relevant is it currently? Aside from a player or 2 joining a bit earlier than people, you have people mostly joining at the same timeframe and some were just more active than others to get a couple extra TPE.
I don't want to overreact, because I can understand both sides, but just getting your points taken away kind of puts a negative vibe out instead of feeling rewarding and making you want to put in more work. Just my two cents.
Edit: Dusty replied at the same time as I was typing. I have no issue with returning my equipment and buying it again, I think I touched on that above but can't remember for sure. I understand that part of it, just not the Ultimus part since we pretty much all joined in time to do it.
