Angus Winchester was arrested in the wilderness on the Alaskan island of Kodiak recently when the US Fish and Wildlife officers found him hunting in the National Wildlife Refuge. Not only did Winchester not have a hunting license and was hunting in an area off limits to hunters. Winchester wasn't hunting caribou, or deer, or moose, or elk, or anything of the sort. Winchester was hunting Kodiak bears. Also known as the Alaskan brown bear, the Kodiak is a relative to the North American grizzly bear except is known to grow even larger, up to 1,500lbs.

The most shocking part of this story is not that Winchester was found poaching an endangered animal on federal land. What surprised even the Fish and Wildlife officers was the fact that Winchester was not hunting these monstrous carnivores with a rifle. Or a shotgun. Or even a pistol. Angus Winchester was hunting Kodiaks with a spear. According to their statement they found Winchester completely naked and covered in a war paint he made out of wild cranberries and mud, stalking the bears through the forest armed with a homemade spear. Although he hasn't admitted to anything, they also found him with a necklace made from Kodiak teeth, making them believe he might have found success with this method before being discovered., Winchester quickly posted bail and returned to Orange County after the incident, in preparation for the Otters next game.
