The Carlito Crush Diaries
So, I happened to mention to one of my coaches in Portland that I’ve been keeping a diary about my time here since I declared for the NSFL. It’s basically been a chronicling of my career. I used to do it at Ohio State all of the time. He told me that I should publish it. Considering that it’s pretty personal, I wanted to say no. But he told me that the league actually pays its players for producing interesting pieces of media for the public and that people would love to read the thoughts of a rookie in the league. Well, here it is then. I’ll be publishing short pieces here and there and there. Making some money isn’t the worst thing in the world, and I’d like to give my fans an inside look at what I’m doing and thinking at different points of my career anyway. So here goes nothing.
Entry #1 – Declaring for the NSFL.
Well, I did it. After playing my heart out for THE Ohio State University, my career has come to an end. It was time to really decide what I wanted to do, and quite honestly, I still want to play football. I have some concerns of the long term effects this game will have on my body, but I was just going to end up a wrestler anyway, so is it even that different? I’ve declared for the National Simulation Football League. I’ve scouted the teams over there and after talking with dad and my agent I think it’s the right move. There’s not exactly a bunch of superstar tight ends over there, and if needed, I can just play receiver. I think most teams want a fast 6’6 monster on the team, haha. I thought I’d be able to sign with a team right away, but it turns out I missed the deadline to declare for S4 by a few hours! I had no idea! So based on the rules of the league, I’m the very first S5 rookie. That means I have to spend the S4 season in the DSFL, which is the developmental league. I’m pretty bummed about it. I would’ve liked to jump right into the fire of the big league. But dad said that working my way up and learning in the D-League wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. At most, its two seasons. The cool part is that the DSFL has only a few weeks left in their season, so I’ll get claimed to a team and get to play in the playoffs! Assuming that team makes it that is. I don’t know much about the DSFL teams at all, but that’s the fun of it. I’ll get to live in a new city for a few weeks, learn the ropes, and maybe experience a few games right away! I’m glad they’re not letting me sit around for too long, I get really annoyed when that happens. Ever since I moved to America from the good ol’ DR, I’ve just been playing or training for football. First the Army game, and then after I committed to Ohio State, I moved to Columbus and just started getting to work. The offseasons weren’t really offseasons there. It was a killer program that the Buckeyes ran there, some say it’s more professional than, well, professional teams. We were constantly working to win championships. That’s the attitude I’m going to bring to the locker room of wherever I end up. Show up, work out, kick ass, and win. I’m going to miss Columbus, but wherever I go, I’m going to dive in head first! Can’t wait!
