The one problem with that is the divisions would be unequal... one would have 4 competitive teams (competitive as in player/user controlled) and the other one only 3, so the odds of making it into the playoffs would be imbalanced

Ok, so maybe make it so that there are no divisions for S5 (Or preferably, forever)? Again, I know that is limited by the sim, but I wonder if there is a manually a way to insert teams in the playoffs? If not, this wouldn't work, but maybe even if the sim says a certain 4 teams should be in the playoffs, we reseed the playoffs and the teams in it based on the top 4 overall? I do not know if this is possible however.
