(S24) - PT 1 - Trivia Night

So my story is going to be about the season 14 trade that brought Kansas City Coyote back-up QB, Ryan Leaf Jr. to Norfolk. Just note that this is a dramatization of the events that happened, not an accurate retelling.

Slm: “He’s available very cheap, a 4th rounder will do it. We may not even have 4 rounds in the next draft.”

Scorp: “I don’t know, he’s kiidn a hnadfil. Maybe we donnn need another QB.”

Me: “No. He’s a kid. He’s only here to meme. No.”

Slm: “But he’s active. I think I can get him on the condition that he switches positions when he gets here. Sounds like he had a falling out with the Kansas City locker room.”

Me: “Yeah Jiggly is always whining about him in general chat.”

Scorp: “THenak maybe werl shoud givew hi chankn.”

Slm: “Yeah, Scorp is right, we should give him a chance. We need help on the defensive line and he would be essentially free.”

Me: “I don’t know, what if he tears our locker room apart just like he did in Kansas City.”

Scorp: “Youo never knsdf untlijf youo try.”

Slm: “Yeah, I’m pulling the trigger.”

Me: “Okay I guess.”

PS Everything worked out fine and everyone was happy except eventually Yellowknife and later Chicago.

It was another gameday night in midseason S21. The #Dog- house server, which is the internal locker room of the Birddogs, was bustling with activity as usual. That particular day, Big Edd decided to enter himself into a debate against the whole team as he stated that candy corn, of all things, was his third favorite candy of all time. And somewhere along the way, someone(Rradum if I remember right) confessed their love to Andes mint chocolate, further adding fuel to the fire.

While the 'debate' was ongoing, Big Edd must've spotted something weird in the midst of being bombarded as a candy-corn lover. "Hey Lim" he tagged me, "tf is that weird tweet thingy you just posted?" "What are you talking about" I answered. "I didn't even tweet today"
I realized something was wrong when bunch of people started replying "oh you did". And Howsour even kindly provided a screenshot of the tweet in question, which was indeed a gibberish of meaningless numbers. "Uh oh" I typed. "Guys I think I've been hacked" I then rushed to my twitter account page, deleted the offending tweet and changed my password just on case.
I returned to see the chat transition into a bunch of "lol"s, "lmao"s and some :dogekek: emojis, edd and his view on candies long forgotten. I joined in, since I thought that the situation was pretty hilarious myself.

To this day, I still don't know whether or not that incident was a result if hacking, or how it happened if it really was a hack. However, one certain thing is that we got a good laugh and a good memory out of that one night's episode.

This is the story on how Djibutee McJimmerson, the pride of Rwanda, missed the entire prospect bowl. It's important to note that McJimmerson is a known food junkie and avid buffet connoisseur, often being found at Golden Corral as late as 2 AM on weekdays, and more recently Captain George's seafood buffet in his new home of Myrtle Beach. When he was called to represent the glorious Tokyo Drifters, he immediately booked his flight for Japan and rented The Last Samurai for the trip. This was the beginning of his bowl demise. Now when he booked those tickets to Japan, he never checked where the games were being played, and so didn't realize The Drifters had only away games on the schedule.

So young Djibutee gets off the plane in Japan, checks into his hotel, and gets a call from the Drifters GM asking why he missed the team meeting. Suddenly it dawns on them that this knucklehead is actually in Japan and wont be available for the first 2 games at a minimum, so they schedule him a flight back the 2 days later. Unfortunately, they couldn't have prepared for what came next. McJimmerson found an all you can eat 24/7 sushi conveyor bar. Long story short, he missed his flight and was found 7 days later passed out in the bathroom covered in eel sauce. The Drifters went 0-5 that week, but some say he set the record for most spicy tuna rolls eaten in a single sitting. The rest is history.

It is an often told tale about Bruce Buckley and his performance on the field in the previous 2 seasons in the International Simulation Football League. His nominations for Offensive lineman of the Year, winning the Award in Season 23. As well as his 2 pro bowl nods in his first two seasons in the league. One of his lesser known tales is the growth Bruce Buckley showed between his season in the Development Simulation Football League and his debut in the International Simulation Football League. While some may say, this was the result of moving from offensive guard to offensive tackle, Bruce Buckley would tell you otherwise.

Bruce Buckley would tell you about the vast amount of work he put in that season and the offseason to get ready for his debut. He would tell you about countless days of drills where he blocked tackling dummies all day long. He would tell you about all of the film sessions at night, he spent looking at great offensive lineman of the past as well his own technique. Bruce Buckley would tell you he spent all day and all night improving his game, ready to step up to the big show. As much as he would like to keep it quiet, Bruce Buckley knows the amount of work he put in and is happy to see the results that come from it.

Written Option: Trivia is gone, reduced to atoms. But the spirit of discovery still remains. In 200 words or more, tell a small story about something that has happened to either you or one of your players - could be a locker room debate, a discord game, or a disappointing performance on the field. Man two hundred words about anyone of these topics. Well we had a great group in our Minnesota locker room back in s21/22. And they were definitely a lot of lively debates about many topics. First, there was the epic young man vs old man debate that put two players against each other talking about GOAT NFL quarterback. Which led to lots of chimming in and also a lot of fire putting out with the back and forth. Main argument being that Brady was a system QB and wasn't the greatest of all time. This definitely struck a nerve and sparked a hell of a debate late night that lasted a few hours and still sticks in my mind.

We never had a debate about who's cooking was the best but we damn sure had lots of food pictures, but most may not know, I'm a BBQing/Smoking genius and I love to flood the Locker rooms with progress pics and finish product of my endeavors. So those garnished lots of debate and attention. Mostly just hungry fools, jealous they couldn't eat.

There was the wonderful travesty that happen to TheCC and his debacle with a motorcycle oil filter that has let to lots of jokes and belittling (all in good fun) and even carried past our group to the forums. And that day will always be special.

You said say something a lot of people don't know, and I don't know if you're gonna let this slide. But a lot of people don't know me nor my player. But I love the league, max earn, and always lively in the chat when I can be. Hopefully I'll be a household name before too long.

Prior to college, Dawkins primarily played on offense as a wide receiver or at times as a running back. There were a couple of instances where he did line up in the secondary, but they were more or less to do with injuries teammates. It was not until the college tryout at the University of Chicago that Dawkins would find himself primarily on the defensive side of the ball. Dawkins was there to try out for both the football and basketball program. The basketball tryout was scheduled a day before football and ended up showing up late after being delayed in traffic after taking the bus.

When Dawkins finally got there, he copped an earful from the coach. During the football tryout, the basketball coach was there and as it turns out he also assists the school’s athletic director. After a miscommunication, Dawkins ended up in the defensive backs group. Concerned that the poor initial impression would hurt his chances the day prior, Dawkins just ended up going along with it. One part embarrassment, another part just having a crack as it was the only open tryout that he could make during his short stay in the states. Although a bit rough around the edges, coaches saw some potential and ability to play as a returner and gunner on special teams were enough to earn Dawkins a spot on the team.

Imagine this scenario: you've been on a team for maybe 4 or 5 seasons, a team that you know is in rebuilding mode. You get mostly under .500 seasons and while being a top player in the league, you still have an amazing record of zero playoff wins... mainly because you have yet to manage to take your team to the post season. So, for a few in real life months you have endured a lot of losses and tough games against teams fighting for different objectives as the ones on your team.
And everything comes to this season. You are the top player in the league, all your hard work has come to this. Your team drafted amazingly well the past few seasons and the young core of the franchise is now in full speed, exactly on your last season before regression. Damn, even the schedule seems to be helping, 2 home games to start the season, to get your morale up to face the rest of the league on your playoff hunt. The hunt you have been chasing for a long time. And what happens?
22 completions in 51 attempts, only 184 yards, zero touchdowns and 3 interceptions and a quarterback rating of 28.6. Worst game in a career. Freaking perfect.

Ready to get addicted to another mobile game or perhaps need a break from Clash of Clans or Farmville? Do those even exist? Well do you want to know what game swept through the Orange County Otters locker room during season 22? It was Retro Bowl, a mobile game that combines the features of a general manager game and typical football game. You as a head coach are given a salary cap and you draft up to 5 star players and ensure they are progressing and keeping their morales high. Then you take them on the field in order to win the retro (super) bowl. This football game swept through our locker room. I believe it may have been Moonlight (Franklin Armstrong) that first shared the game with us by posting screen shots of the game. Then I started noticing Big Edd, and I think even Jeffie and Spec were joining in. And of course I succumbed to indirect peer pressure and booted the game up for myself and ended up sucking several hours into the game building my franchise. This was not much of a story, but this is what it was. The story of how what seemed like everyone in the Orange County locker room was playing in season 22.

Honestly, I’m kind of struggling to think of anything for this. I think that I'll tell one small piece of slightly unknown trivia about my old DSFL team, the Minnesota Grey Ducks. The Minnesota Grey Ducks are known for their….interesting locker room culture. One thing that we did on gamedays, that still lives on today through the newest rookie class, is pregame kissing. ForSucksFake (or Daymond Brooks) wrote a media piece on this, so it’s not that unknown, but I figure some of you may not know about it. We think that it just builds a bond that no other team can come close to matching. Of course, players are allowed to opt out, but this rarely ever happens. It’s only happened once that I know of, since I joined the Minnesota Grey Ducks back in S21. I’m not sure who began this locker room institution. It could have been one of the former general managers, Dewalt27 or CLG Rampage. Or perhaps it was ForSucksFake? I don’t know, but what I do know, is that it was an immediate hit with the team. Now that I’m in Chicago and have convinced Bayley and Muford to acquire ForSucksFake and Jango, two of my old Ducks teammates, I have faith that we will be able to bring this team building exercise to the Butchers locker room. Only time will tell.
