A lot of stock was put into James Gath when he was drafted number 2 overall to the Grey Ducks. Frankly that IPO was overvalued. Week one was a disaster for Gath shareholders. While he recorded a lot of playing time and started at cornerback, he did almost nothing on the field. His only recorded stat was his three tackles. What didn't show up though is all the unmeasurables which devastated his debut. He was frequently dragged around by wide receivers in a performance where the Royals threw for 300+ yards and 3 touchdowns. Gath was simply torched, as were his shareholders.
While Gath hasn't recovered much of his stock value in weeks 2 and 3, the Minnesota Grey Ducks themselves have. After a week one loss at home, they faced two tough away games but managed to snatch a victory from the Portland Pythons. Improving to 1-2 on the season and keeping them in the 4 way tie in the northern division. Looking ahead to the future, the Ducks have some more winnable games - some of which are at home - which gives investors a reason to take another look at the Ducks. As for Gath, assuming he can continue to improve, there may be some future return on investment but it's understandable if some investors want to cut their losses and run.
