Well, by the time that I'm writing this, I'd say we're closer to the three quarters mark. And by that point in the season, the front runners for awards are starting separate themselves from the rest of the pack. The award that I am going to be talking about here today is Defensive Player of the Year. Who do I think is going to win that award you say? Well that would be none other than the defensive captain of the Yellowknife Wraiths, linebacker Douglas Quaid! As of writing this point task, Quaid leads the league in tackles with 97, and is second in the league in tackles for a loss with 8. Quaid also has two forced fumbles and fumble recoveries, as well as 7 sacks on the year, which are respectable numbers this far into the season. If he continues this current trend, Quaid should finish the season with 141 tackles, 11 for a loss, 3 forced fumbles, 10 sacks, and 10 passes defended. Those all around stellar numbers just scream Defensive Player of the Year to me, and Top LB of the Year at the very least! But knowing out award committee, he probably wont even place in the top three.
