If I had to support someone on my team for an award, it would have to be fellow S22 draftee Monty Jack for OBreakoutOTY. After finishing last season with both the worst passing offense and passer rating, Jack wanted to prove that he was more than a washed prospect in a draft class full of elite talent, and that started with working on his arm, which is almost at peak potential this season, this + the combination of a prime former OBreakoutOTY award winner in DTF and 2nd year WR Tychondrius Hood were up to the task this season. With a lot of attention being put on RB Jamar Lackson, this has allowed Jack to be able to limit his INTs, as he has gone from the league lead of 15, to only 5 through 7 weeks of the season, also he is on pace to shatter his passing yards from last season, already having 1736 yards through 7 games, compared to 2715 through 16 last season. Most of all, the San Jose Record has improved tremendously, as the win total for S23 will be matched by the S24 squad if they win the game against Sarasota tonight, in half as many games, all of this combined shows why Monty Jack should be awarded the Offensive Breakout Player of the year at the end of the season.

Looking at the Arizona Outlaws season so far, one has to wonder where am i going to find a player on the team that could be in contention for an award... It was hard, it really was, but i decided to go with Saba Donut, who is near the top in the WR table. After winning the Wide receiver of the year award last season, he entered regression this year but that does not seem like it is slowing him down even a bit. And that is even with the pathetic season his QB Jay Cue is having, leaving Donut 3rd in the league in yards with 613 and with 2 TD receptions.
A WR needs his QB to play at the highest level to rack up the numbers, but this time Saba (and also his WR teammate Thomas Passmann) is having a great season on his own. With Cue managing to apparently hit every opponent defender with ease, Donut has to work extra hard to get the ball in his hands. He is facing some big players for the award, with DTF and the perennial Net Gaines having monster seasons, but Cue really can't play any worse, so with the improvement it will surely come, Donut will win his 2nd WRoTY award in a row.

The Python's breakout player of the season is rookie LB Darren McBobby. He started his DSFL career strong, recording 12 tackles and a sack in a loss at Norfolk. He had another impressive outing at London, getting to the quarterback twice, getting five tackles, one pass defense and most impressively, an interception. He had a quieter third game, recording six tackles, but adding nothing else to the box score. He continued his march to defensive rookie of the year at Kansas City, scoring five tackles and a tackle for loss. 

His totals for the season are 28 tackles, one TFL, three sacks, an interception, and one pass defended. He's tied for second in the league in sacks, interceptions, and tied for eighth in the league in tackles. This is a very impressive stat line for the rookie. His stiffest competition for defensive rookie of the year is Minnesota's star LB A. Chainbreaker with 42 tackles, three TFLs, a forced fumble, and four sacks. While it's hard to argue that Chainbreaker is ahead in most people's eyes right now, McBobby only needs one or two more big games like his week one performance to be right back in contention for defensive rookie of the year. Regardless of him winning any awards, he is a massive contributor to the Python's constantly improving run defense.

One of the bright sides of playing on mediocre teams, is the ability to have multiple opportunities to make an impact. Sometimes players are beneficial of high volume stats that ring hollow because the team is so bad, they usually get to rack up numbers against 2nd stringers in blowouts. Fortunately in the sim league, we dont have that issue.

I'm vouching for the LBoTY race, my teammate Derred DeVille should be a leading candidate for the award. For one, since we know he's not playing second stringers, all his numbers are against first team units. Two, he cannot control any offensive ineptitude, particularly on the road, yet he makes the most of his situation. Three, he plays next to a tackle machine in Dex Kennedy, currently top 5 for tackles in the ISFL. Four, without DeVille, the porous Baltimore defense would probably set some records for "most allowed" or "highest ever" on the defensive side of the ball. He truly is a do-it-all linebacker.

For those that still aren't convinced, here are DeVille's numbers as of 8/23 going into Week 8:

• 50 tackles, 15th in the league. His LB partner, Kennedy, is second with 68
  
• 6 sacks, T-5th with three other players, 2 behind 1st

• 12 PD, T-2nd in the league with one player, 2 behind 1st
  

Baltimore's defense is porous, but DeVille is plugging as many holes as he can. And some teams may be wary of this as they start to attack other areas around him, hoping to avoid him as much as they can head on. But he still finds his way to the ball.

Looking rather quickly at the Index, I am pretty sure that the Outlaws will not be competing for awards. The team is not looking good what so ever in the standings and production is not where I thought it would be for the season. I was expecting big things and was really looking forward to a possible playoff position and a push for the cup. But hey, dream big right?

When it comes to the Positional Excellence award, I could see Asher Quinn making a run for it wearing an Outlaws jersey. he is currently in the lead for Tackles for a Corner Back and also has recorded  Tackle for a Loss. He could continue at this rate, considering the Outlaws do not hold the ball very much and the defense is out on the field for a large part of the time.
Jadakiss would be in the running for the Strong Safety of the year. He is a couple of tackles behind Eriksen from the Liberty, but the season can change that. Although he is 10 tackles away from the leader in the Strong Safety Position, what helps his case is the fact that he has recorded 3 sacks and also 1 interception. Both of those stats puts him tied for the lead in this respective position.
Jay-Jamison is putting up some good Kicking numbers. He is currently 100% when it comes to Kicking, both for Field Goals and for Extra Points. He is on pace to lead the league in yards for punting and has also done a very exceptional job when it comes to placing the ball in good positions. He leads all punters with 12 kicks inside the other teams 20 yard zone.
Buckley is 7 Pancakes behind the lead for Offensize Lineman and has yet to allow a sack for the opposing team. The Outlaws feel safe when he is out there, that is forsure.
Desmond Scarlett is doing a great job at returning the ball for the team. He is wayyyyy in the lead when it comes to Kick Return Yards, having more than 100 from the guy in second. He is also putting up great numbers in the Punt Returns, averaging about 4.9 yards per returned punt. What might not seem like a lot, but every bit of it helps.

It should come as no surprise that Yellowknife Wraiths running back Mathias Hanyadi should be the front runner for the ISFL running back of the year (again.) His impressive resume includes winning the award for 3 of the last 4 years, as well as last year’s MVP along with a host of other accolades. Oh, and finally winning the Ultimus, can’t forget about that! But let’s not just talk about the past, let's talk about this season and why he should be the odds-on favorite to win this year as well. Unsurprisingly, Hanyadi is yet again spearheading the potent Wraiths running attack, leading the ISFL running back corps by almost 200 yards only 7 weeks into the season. While he is not in the lead with “only” 4 rushing TDs, that is still a respectable number by any standard. Some of those touchdowns have been vultured by fellow running back Acura Skyline, who also has 4, as well as a robust red zone passing game by the rest of the Wraiths offense. Further contributing to the Wraiths offense, Hanyadi also has 179 yards receiving as well as 10 pancakes as a pass blocker. Even this early in the season, its pretty clear who the best running back in the ISFL is, not to mention probably also the front runner for most valuable player, and thats Mathias Hanyadi.

After such an abysmal first half of the season for the Otters, it is not a terrible surprise trolling the index and discovering a lack of OCO players near the top of expected awards finalist lists. I struggled to find many solid contenders among the ranks of the Otters' roster. I want to give an honorable mention to linebacker Deshun Jones and kicker/punter Alex Dasistwirklichseinnachname for performing close to contention. Both players have numbers in the key stats for their positional awards that are certainly in striking range should they find improvement in the second half of the season. Alex D has quite a good punting average and a lot of punts inside the 20 and Jones is holding his own in picking up sacks and pass defenses. The major candidates based on recent performance especially are likely running back Tatsu Nakamura and returner Lord Beerus. Nakamura will certainly struggle to compete with Yellowknife's entire offense incarnate, Mathias Hanyadi, but he's had a couple of recent 100+ yard games, including one with 3 rushing TDs that could easily be a finalist for offensive performance of the year. Nakamura really needs to improve his yards per carry, but that is certainly possible with 5 of the last 8 games in the season being at home for the Otters. Beerus on the other hand looks well in control of a possible returner of the year run. His punt return numbers are respectable, but we saw last year that voters really primarily care about kick return numbers, and Beerus has the best average there at 36.6 yards per return, a full 5.3 yards ahead of the next best returner. This is certainly boosted by a stellar almost-touchdown, a 98 yard kick return that Beerus pulled off very recently. Overall, the unfortunate coalescence of bad luck and a brutal travel schedule early in the season has held OCO's best players from showing up in awards conversations, but many will need to be watched during the Otters' long home stretch and could find themselves picking up the hardware with a strong late push.
