I would like to be able to say that I think James Wilkinson has played well enough so far this season to be a player who could win an award but I don't think that this is the case!
The position that James plays is Tight End and I can only think that there is going to be one player who is going to win the award for the best Tight End Of The Year and that is Austin McCormick!
McCormick plays for the New Orleans Second Line and he has had an amazing season! He has the most yards out of all of the Tight Ends who are in the league and he also has the most average Yards per Reception!
He does not have the most Touchdowns of all of the Tight Ends in the league because he only has been able to score one so far this season, but I think that the fact he has been able to cover so many yards should be enough to make him the best Tight End in the league.
There are a lot of great players at the Tight End position in the ISFL this season and it has been so much fun for James to be able to learn from them and improve his performance!
This seasons rookie class has been stacked, and the rookie of the year award candidates have performed like superstars. However, the award can only go to one player, and I believe that player is Dallas Birddogs wide receiver Chunt the Badger. In their first year in the league, Chunt has gone on a rampage, putting up superstar numbers. As the Birddogs number one receiver, Chunt has put up an insane 48 receptions for 660 yards and 4 touchdowns, impressive even for a non-rookie receiver. Chunt currently ranks at least top 5 in all of these categories, but is number 1 in all of these stats among all rookies, further solidifying their case as the rookie of the year. No other rookie receiver has gotten close to Chunt's dominance, solidifying their already solid case as the best rookie receiver this year. Chunt's talent has transformed Dallas into a powerhouse, with the Birddogs going 6-1 as the leagues #1 team. Chunt has also shown their talent on special teams, leading all rookies in both kick return and punt return yards, with 319 and 152 respectively. Chunt also holds the season record for longest punt return and most receiving touchdowns in a single game, with a 44 yard return and a 2 touchdown performance versus the Luchadores in week 1.
I believe that Brick Van Sanzo of the New York Silverbacks has a great chance of receiving the Break out Player award. As of writing Brick Van Sanzo has recorded a sack in every game this season besides one. Currently totaling 8 Sacks on the year. This is complemented by a forced fumble and a Safety currently.
Only 3 DE's in the league have more Sacks than Van Sanzo currently and I believe at the pace that Brick Van Sanzo is making and the recent improvements to his tackling and intelligence will only increase his sack output this year. While Brick Van Sanzo has only recorded 19 Tackles on the season, I believe those numbers will also go up.
This is all complimented by the absolute destruction the New York Silverbacks defensive line has been able to create this year, with so many playmakers causing problems for offensive lines, a bullrusher like Brick Van Sanzo always seems to have at least an opportunity every game to get the quarterback while other lineman are distracted by the other monsters on this defense. I believe that Brick is entirely capable of putting up another 6 sacks this season if not 7. If Brick manages a multiple sack game that would only put him even higher on the list.
Well, if I am being honest I am pretty satisfied with my player’s performance overall in this season. I did not think I would be doing this well at the helm of a minor league team, yet here I am, and I would say that I am doing pretty well thus far. As a running quarterback, there are always going to be two facets to my game, and I really think that is helping me play pretty well this season. If I am struggling to throw the ball, I can take a couple plays off from passing and instead I can choose to run the ball and gain a few good yards. If I am not finding any open holes in the run game, I can dump the ball off and let one of my very talented wide receivers do some magic with the ball. So, what I am trying to say here is that I think I can make a run at DSFL Rookie of the Year. It is a very prestigious award that has been won by a lot of very talented players, and I said that at the beginning of the season my two goals were to win a championship and to win rookie of the year, and I think that I have proven that I have a chance to do both!
