Everybody always claims, "There's no stadium experience like (blank) stadium experience...well I'm here to tell you absolutely none of the stadium experiences in the DSFL or NSFL come anywhere close to matching the gameday experience in Yellowknife. If Being the northern most professional sports team in the world isn't already an experience in its own just wait until you see the stadium. The Wraiths play in the worlds largest igloo made from real ice and snow and during games in the summer there are days where it actually gets warm enough that the stadium begins to melt so fans come hours before the game and assist in rebuilding the stadium before kickoff. Another fun fact about Wraith gamedays is that they are actually Santa's favourite team since he lives just a couple hours away so he and Mrs Claus will often attend games much to the delight of the local children. Prior to every kickoff during player announcements each Wraith's starting lineup player also rides out onto the field on a reindeer which is another incredibly unique experience. Overall the experience at a Yellowknife Wraiths home game is something a football fan can't find anywhere else in the world...just make sure to bundle up!

(Since Dougie is a rookie with no team, Ill write about his college)
Dougie attended the University of South Carolina, whose football team has a long set of traditions. The program started in 1892, with their first game on Christmas Eve. In those traditions, one of the most well known is the 2001: A Space Odyssey entrance song, a tradition that started in the 1980s. Before running on the field, a video plays South Carolina highlights, typically highlights from many different years. The video ends with a quote from Steve Spurrier, the head ball couch: "It's time for Carolina football!" Then begins the song: 2001 A Space Odyssey, and the crowd erupts in cheers. Players begin running on the field and the mascot, Cocky (who is a fan favorite tradition from the 1980s himself), is in the middle of the field to greet them, where smoke and other pyrotechnics are going off. It is said that Cocky’s part in the 2001 entrance is “one of the magical moments” of the tradition. Dougie being a surprising star at kicker, winning many games with clutch kicks, is particularly cheered on when entering the stadium. Some fans even chant D.U.G. D.U.G. as he enters. Dougie Smalls hopes this level of fandom for his kicking game will emerge in the NSFL. [OPTION]Position: K/P

We have some wild pre-game traditions in Philly. Most are based around Philly cheese steak sandwiches. Before every game a truck backs up to the parking lot and dumps an entire truck of cheese steaks onto a tarp, which then becomes a free for all for all tailgaters. It's quite the spectacle, but it's a huge hit with the crowd of course.
Next is the ringing of a giant replica of the Liberty Bell for each touchdown. In the past this was after every first down, but the league cracked down on it due to the damage being caused in people's ear drums. The league officials feel that the current rate feels more manageable. Another tradition is the Liberty, Liberty, Liberty jingle from the Liberty Mutual commercials blasted over the loudspeakers. This is done after every first down. They have managed to escape the ire of HO with this tradition, probably in large part due the team sending 10% of the ad revenue back to the league. All in all, the team has some great traditions, which really mesh with the great history of Philadelphia. Some argue they are a little tacky, and visitors seem to hate them, but the home crowds are a huge fan, and I think we'll see these traditions continue for many years to come. ![]()
The Orange County Otters have a very fun side attraction at their stadium in southern California. Given their team name, they felt that they had an obligation to use their resources and platform to help as many actual otters as possible. That is why they built the Angus Winchester Otter Sanctuary as an attachment to their stadium. The sanctuary is home to a handful of otters that have been displaced from their habitats by fires, deforestation, and other sad things. They are raised there before being released back into more suitable habitats. The sanctuary can be visited on non-game days, but it also serves as a special VIP entrance to the stadium. Fans with those tickets are able to walk through and see the critters before they head into the stadium. Extensive research has showed that fans who see the cute little critters before heading into the stadium are nearly three times more excited to cheer for the Otters than fans who don't. Many visiting fans unsuspectingly purchase the VIP tickets to get the full experience, only to find themselves cheering for the Otters once the game starts. This give Orange County an extra edge when playing at home, where they are one of the toughest teams in the league.

Portland is one of the most distinguished and established teams in the DSFL, and with that territory comes a ferocious and dedicated fan base. As the team’s primary kicker, Venus Powers is well versed in many of the fandom’s unique traditions. Putting aside the rather infamous incidents of the phenomenon only known as “Strip Touchdown”, the fan base has shown their support in a great many ways. Hours before the games start, fans can be seen flooding the Snake Pit parking lot with tailgating galore, including both more traditional game fare (hot dogs, hamburgers, beer, more beer) with some unique cultural influences from the team’s star players (Posta à Mirandesa and other Portuguese flavors from Jay Cue, fluffy tacos from San Antonio to honor Venus Powers, etc.) The tailgate outside the Snake Pit is simply incredible and never the same twice.
Fans also get incredibly into the action during the game itself. Because of the design of the Snake Pit, on third downs the crowd noise can reach decibel levels comparable to CenturyLink Stadium a few hours north. Waves of fans deck themselves out in alternating columns of yellow and black clothes and participate in a wave after a Pythons score, creating the illusion of a rippling snake. There’s a reason why Portland is one of the most inhospitable home environments in the DSFL. And on a more personal note, Venus Powers finally took home the toy snake after being voted for the game ball against Minnesota in Week 10. Pre game traditions in Philly includes Liberty row as well as a Philly Cheesesteak Cookoff. A section of the parking lot has a bunch of trucks and grills set up for the Philly Cheesesteak cook off. This area is open to anyone who wants to eat or try their hand at making Cheesesteaks. Next we have Liberty Row, liberty row is the walk from the parking lot to the main entrance of the stadium where theres hundreds of liberty bells ringing once the gates open, usually ending the Philly cheesesteak cookoff and summoning fans into the stadium. Just like other teams as well, Philly has areas for cornhole games and tossing a ball around. Occasionally someone will get thrown into a table or 4 but those are special occasions. The most important tradition is the honorary 10 year club. The 10 year club always season ticket holders for more than 10 years ring the bells at Liberty Way as well as gains them first access into the stadium on Gamedays. 10 year club also allows the fans to go on the sideline during warmups and meet players. A real way to say thank you to the fans who have supported the team over the past years.
