I'm not 100% sure if this prompt is meant to be from a player perspective or if it's meant to be more focused on your mentor as a user. I can tell you right now that my player, Christian Marciano, has no mentors. From the moment he could walk he was already out-performing college starters. The guy is God's gift to football.
So, instead, I'm going to use this prompt to thank those that I viewed as my mentors during my time in the league. It's interesting to look back as the grizzled vet that I am and take stock of how I got to where I am and who helped me get here. The first people that really helped push me to where I am today as a user in this league are my fellow Season 24 DSFL draftees that ended up in Tijuana, specifically @Kotasa, @GuitarMaster116, and @deadlunatic. The general excitement these three brought to the league for me as a new user can't be understated, and the friendly competition we had as rookies trying to out earn each other was a big part of me becoming a max earning user. The other person I want to call out specifically as a mentor is none other than @Hallmonitor_20. When I took over as General Manager in Philadelphia I had no idea what I was doing. Hall taught me a lot of valuable lessons when I was first starting out and I can't thank him enough. ![]() ![]()
My mentor in DSFL has definitely been Trempale. Football strategy hasn't been my strong suit but I understand basic sport strategy enough to make comparisons. At first I was hesitant to get involved with DSFL war room talks but after reading up on the sim it is simple enough to understand to the level of being able to offer input that doesn't sound outlandish. Tremp has been a big help in developing Toledo and providing resources to make him the best single season WR and then single season RB he can be. Laser helped create the build, but after talks with Tremp I knew it was the right choice for me. Being involved with Bondi Beach has definitely made my experience with the ISFL much more enjoyable and Tremp is the primary reason for that. As a GM he does a great job of being involved with the team, and making sure the hype train keeps rolling

First and foremost, I would not be in this league without @RussDrivesTheBus. He knew my overzealous interest in both fantasy football and D&D would translate here and campaigned relentlessly to try and get me in the door. Admittedly I resisted for a bit due to already being stretched pretty thin, but once I gave in and joined I took to the league just as Russ insisted I would. And he didn't stop at just getting me through the door. He's been my primary source for league info and my go-to person when I have questions about how to go about advancing my ISFL career, both as a player and as part of the organization.
Beyond Russ, I have to credit @IceBear32 and @Painted, the Minnesota GMs. Both have been invaluable in getting me up to speed with how the sim works and giving me a glimpse behind the curtain of league activities. They also get credit for creating an amazing LR atmosphere, which has been a big part of my interest in getting more involved in the league. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
I think a major key for success in this league is engaging with new users and allowing them to be successful in the league. THe willingness of some many great people being willing to help out is such a welcoming feeling into this league. I have been lucky enough to meet some great people in this league and been able to shadow how they were able to help me, as I try to do in my current position of DSFL GM. I think my fellow GMs deserve a huge shout out for the mentoring they do and being able to welcome and develop players. Another group that deserves similar praise is the scouts for these same teams. Before players even get to a locker room these scouts are reaching out and giving them answers to any questions they might have.
I'm super appreciative of those who have listed me as their mentor. THat honestly is a great feeling than the wins that come with coaching. I do want to shout out both @RussDrivesTheBus and @Crodyman who were my GMs and set up and amazing locker room that they were willing to hand over to me and Painted. THey have continued to be available as we try and maintain and grow Minnesota. Bonus shout out to @Gragg9 who was my scout and an amazing help after joining the ducks as I always bothered him for questions than constantly going to the GMs. It's been cool to see his path through the league and now being an ISFL GM. ![]()
