[div align=\\\"center\\\"]Today we're going to take a look at a lot of the new blood, the future of the NSFL, the players going into the season 10 Developmental Simulation Football League Entry Draft! Some of these players could end up stars at their positions, but some may never even make it out of the DSFL. Will we get any hint of who will do what? Well that's tough to say, but we're gonna dive in and, see what we can learn!
Game Overview
First Half
A general break down of the entire game would be a good place to start, It was quiet a back and forth game all together, the Eagles totally owned the first quarter, and at a lesser extent the entire first half of the game. They started off strong with two unanswered passing touchdowns from the Quarterback Andrew Reese, Yulic Nagasawa brought in the first the first one from Seven Yards out, and Ty Justice brought in the second touchdown from the 13. Shield managed to tie the game up briefly after back to back touchdown passes in the second quarter, both from Jamal Slick, the first to Berell Trister from 8 yards out and, the second to Steven More from the 1 yard line. So, its 14 - 14 with a bit over five minutes left in the first half, and the Eagles Safety Dan Schneider was able to land a Safety, (that's right a safety with a safety) on Shield QB Jamal Slick, and on the following drive Kick Puncher got one threw the uprights from 28 yards away, leaving us at the half with a score of 19 - 14 Eagles with the lead.
Second Half
The Second half is where the Shield found their room to shine, both teams were at a stale mate until there was around four minutes left in the 3rd quarter. After both of the teams puttered around on their first two drives of the second half the Shield managed to drive down field and, get the first running touchdown of the game with their man Antonio Summer who plowed through the line 2 yards out from the goal line. We have a score of 21 - 19 Shield lead going into the final quarter. The Shield drive their way to what could be the dagger with around 9 minutes left in the game, Kulter Fulture booted one through from 40 yards out to put the Shield up 24 - 19, a field goal alone will no longer accomplish what they need. Fortunately for the Eagles on the very next drive, Reese hit his man Nasawaga for a touchdown pass from five yards into the redzone. Now with just over 4 minutes left, the Shield had to drive down and, at least get a field goal to have a chance in this game. It was more than likely their final drive of regulation and, everyone in that stadium or, on that field knew it. The Eagles did not make it easy, the Shield only managed to get to the opposing 24 yard line. 4th and 1 with 1:28 left in the game, they had a decison. Do they go for it, and try to pick up the win or play it safe and, see if their man Fulture can boot another but from 41 yards this time. They went with the latter, and Fulture all but sealed the deal for overtime with a beautiful 41 yard kick through the uprights!
Overtime
Overtime was short and sweet, Reese and the rest of the Eagles knew what they had to do, and they had the Shields defense on their heels for the entirety of their overtime drive. With 10 minutes and 29 second on the clock Reese threw a 2 yard touchdown pass on a slant to Adrian Pitcher to seal their victory for the night! Final score 33 - 27.
Quarterbacks
Now we're gonna talk about quarterback play, and off the bat I want to say both of these guys killed it out their on the field. They each protected the ball and, made smart reads, but in this instance on did play better than the other and, we're going to start there. Andrew Reese put the DSFL on notice with his performance on 69 total passing attempts he completed 37 for 429 yards he did throw the one interception but, when you are slinging the ball around that often it is to be expected. The icing on the cake come from the touchdowns, a total of FOUR touchdowns thrown from him, including the game winning pass in overtime! That work earned him a QBR of 86 You can't dream of a much better game! Now the man Jamal Slick, hes no slouch either, in fact in usual circumstances you may be praising the game he played instead. He threw the ball 51 times for 26 completions for 223 yards, he also only threw one pick. (a few players after Reese threw his, making both a wash IMO) Along with that he threw two touchdowns, albeit he had a bit more help in the run game when it comes to the redzone. This performance was good enough for a solid 67.7 QBR! I think in the long run both of these guys have a similar chance at excelling in their positions in the future, some may see Reese with the advantage right now, but I saw a certain natural ability you just can't teach with Slick, so I wouldn't count him out of the race!
Running backs
Next up we're going to touch on rushing, now for the most part the air game ran the show in this match up, since each team was at one point or, another fighting to stay in it! For that reason there may not be a whole lot to say, but just like last time we will start with the guy who did it better. Antonio Summer solely toted the rock for the Shield, 16 times for a total of 60 yards, one of those carries brought in 6 points for his squad and, he ended up averaging 3.8 yards per carry. You can see when he was out there he was reaching a gear a lot of people just don't have, the kid is fast, not just fast but quick. He can progress into a start if he keeps on this path. As far as the Eagles running game goes there was not really anybody of note in their performances, in total a couple of guys rushed 9 times for 37 yards. Summer was the clear stand out in this, and I can tell you he is more than likely the most looked at RB in this game.
Receivers
Now there were a lot of players out their fighting for snaps, and receptions when it comes to the wide outs and tight ends. So there may be some performances that are worthy of talking about, that we just wont be able to get to here today. With that being said Eagles WR Yulic Nagasawa was hands down the top guy in this area. The man pulled the ball down 6 times for 100 yards, averaging 16.7 YPR the kids a YAC monster and, 2 of those 6 ended up in the endzone! Keep your eyes on that kid! Next another Eagles player, this time a tight end, Adrian Pitcher who had the most reception in the game totaling 9 for 61 yards. Sure he was a short yardage chain mover, but the fact of the matter is this man pulled down the game winning throw! That is invaluable, and if he keeps his nose to the grindstone he will be a force for years to come. When you throw the ball for over 400 yards your receivers are going to look good, and that's why we are talking about yet another Eagles Wide Receiver the man Yulic Nagasaw who had the most total receiving yards in yesterdays game totaling 106 off of 8 receptions averaging 113.2 YPC.
Now on the flip side the Shields receivers were no slouches either their big Tight End Steven Moore was super efficient ending the night with 7 receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown! When they needed someone to get open this man got open, stellar night for the young Tight End. Next we have Shield Wide Receiver Berell Trister who brought the rock in 6 times for 57 yards and a touchdown of his own. From what I've noticed this kid is another burner on the field, he could fit well in most schemes! Last receiver for this game folks and, we are going to focus on Harvey Kindle of the Shield this kid may not be quiet as quick as some of the guys out there but, he makes up for it with proficient route running. He put up a solid performance catching the ball 5 times for 57 yards averaging 11.7 YPC. Of course I couldn't in good mind note this performances without of course giving mention to the man who one upped him, Ty Justice putting on the exact same performance but, adding touchdown to that stat line, pretty close in terms of skill set are these guys. I wonder if this will put heat on either of them to compete with one another?
Kickers
We're gonna make a quick stop at the kickers before we finish this up for a overview of the top few defensive performances tonight! We will start specifically with field goals and I have to tell you this where Kulture Fulture shined tonight, he knocked in every attempt he made, all of the extra points and two from 40 - 49! A killer performance for the young prospect today! Kick Puncher did not fair quiet as welling, he did make all of his extra points, but only made 1/2 from 20 - 29. On the flip side Puncher was a beast when it came to the punts blasting one 59 yards, and two of them inside the 20, with one actually leading to a safety! Fulture did not do quiet as well with punting but the performance was nothing to scoff at is furthest was 52 and one landed inside the twenty! Both of these guys have valuable legs, and will be putting points up for years to come!
Defense
Now onto the defense! Much like the wideouts there were many guys fighting for their chance to prove their worth, maybe even more so here. We're gonna start is off with the man Dan Schnieder of the Eagles who was everywhere he needed to be AND more! The Safety racked up a few tackles, 4 to be specific, with one of those being a sack on Slick for a safety, putting some points on the board for his team, and getting the ball into his offenses hand. That's not it though, he really wanted to see his offense on the field because he also picked off a pass from Slick. What else can you ask from the guy? Next we're gonna touch on the Shields Linebacker Tana Keïta, who terrorized the man Reese in that back field for most of the game, and made sure neither of their running backs had an easy time getting this started, he brought in a total of 9 tackles, and 2 sacks! You can be sure he was hurrying the ball out of Reese's hands as well. Now lets talk Eagle CB Bobson Dugnutt which is obviously such an american baseball players name, but this kid doesn't swing a bat, he shadows receivers and, shuts down quarterbacks! Dugnutt did not make it easy for Slick, slapping down a total of 3 of his passes a couple of them looked to be sure completions until he made a killer play on them along with 7 tackles! Lets look at the other Shield Linebacker K.J. Becker who also had is way with Reese one a couple of plays! It seems like the front line was doing their job for the guys in back, Becker was able to wrap Reese up a total of two times as well, and brought in six tackles! Last we're going to focus on Shield corner back Marc Spector who brought in the most tackles on the day with 10, proving that maybe you can be everywhere at once, along with that he defended a crisp looking pass from Reese. It was an absolute showing and their are still a few guys who put on a great performance I sadly do not have time to mention.
Well folks, I think that just about touches on a large majority of the game! There are still of course a few very talented players that maybe weren't mentioned as much as they should have been, or at all. To those I say you will have many games to prove your worth, don't get stuck on any games where you may have been off, or if the ball just never came your way. Thanks for reading folks, and lets wish this talented kids good luck.[/div]
