After a standout career at Stanford University, Tight End Chase Jensen has announced his intentions to enter the DSFL and NSFL drafts. The hulking 6’6” 255 beast made waves throughout the collegiate ranks after his senior season where he posted 1,361 receiving yards to go along with his 14 touchdowns caught. Additionally, Jensen was a key piece in helping Stanford win 2 Sun Bowl Championships over North Carolina and Pitt, despite the fact that he missed most of his junior season due to injury. Jensen was recently claimed off of waivers by the Kansas City Coyotes where in his first appearance, against the 10-2 San Antonio Marshals, came up with 3 catches for 13 yards and 3 pancakes with 0 sacks allowed in a 16-10 win over the DSFL powerhouse. Jensen had this to say about his declaration of his draft intentions and his first game in the DSFL…
“You know, it was a lot of fun to be out there playing against professionals. The game is definitely faster and the other guys out there are bigger and stronger than I am used to at the collegiate level, but I am working every single day to make myself a better person and player. I want to be able to go out on to the field someday and just say to myself… man, this is my field. I own this field and everyone else on it. I want to be the kind of player that just goes out there and dominates every single play.”
“I can’t wait for the draft though, it’s going to be super exciting. I’ve already had a great time getting to know the guys in Kansas City, but who knows how the draft is going to play out. I see myself as a first round talent, but I also know that there are a lot of guys out there that already have endorsements from seasoned pros in the league, so I totally understand if some of them get taken ahead of me. That being said, whoever does end up drafting me is going to get the kind of guy who is going to put in the extra effort to be a star in this league. There are no off days when it comes to me. I’m going to give 110% all the time because that is the kind of effort it takes to make it in a league like this. Ultimately, like I said though, I just can’t wait for that day to come. It’s going to be a ton of fun. I have unfinished business right now though, I have DSFL Championship to win.”
The young gun will once again lineup again tonight for the Coyotes in a matchup against the Portland Pythons in a game that will determine the winner of the NFC North. Jensen indicated that he is hoping to have an even bigger impact in this game than his debut against the Marshals.
“I thought I played just fine against the Marshals… I wouldn’t say that I was an impact player or anything, but at least I wasn’t a detriment to the team. I want to be that impact player though. I want to be the guy that you can count on to catch the game winning touchdown. That’s on me though to get open to get the targets. That’s why I’m practicing each and every day to get bigger, stronger, and faster.”
So, there you have it folks. Jensen appears to be adjusting well to life as a professional football player and whatever team ends up drafting him is going to get one heck of a football player.
