[div align=\\\"center\\\"]Season 15 NSFL Mock Draft: Round 1
[/div]
[div align=\\\"center\\\"]The NSFL draft is upon once again boys and girls, and this one is going to be a doozy. With 12 rounds for 10 teams including the new Austin Copperheads and Chicago Butchers, this is going to be a draft that will usher in a new era for the league. The season 14 DSFL draft brought in a massive amount of new players including myself. NSFL GMs definitely need to do their homework on this one because a lot of these picks can be a number of different options, but I’m going to give you my predictions. It’s possible that picks are going to be traded so I did not include those in this mock draft for sake of keeping this simple and to the point. So here we go!

Nero Alexander has been a force to be reckoned with in the DSFL putting in absolute work for the San Antonio Marshals. Sitting at a cool 235 TPE updated, he’s a top earner who fills a major need for a lot of teams in the big leagues. The Arizona Outlaws just so happened to be number one and have a Defensive End who has almost half of the TPE that Alexander has. I feel like this pick by Arizona would push them in the right direction after giving up 523 points in season 14. The second most points scored was against the Yetis with almost 100 less. Their defense needs all the help it can get and Alexander can provide it.

New Orleans is in desperate need of a solid Corner who can keep up with the top receivers in the league. Ridley is the one to do that. His speed is top notch when it comes to secondary players so he’s great in coverage netting 11 pass defenses in his rookie year for the Pythons. He continues to put in the work and could be a top corner in the league within a season or two.

I can absolutely see New Orleans doubling up on defense in the first round. With their current linebackers slowing making their way towards regression, I believe New Orleans snatches up a solid linebacker while the getting is good. Slothface is a top earner in the league and if he continues to be, he’ll be a nightmare for quarterbacks and running backs everywhere. His combination of speed and strength allows him to be all over the field to make plays. Don't let his name fool you.

Jensen is the top tight end in this draft and with Yellowknife being down an active one, I see him going with their first pick. This really all depends on how tight ends are valued in this draft because their value relies on the offensive scheme. He is a balanced tight end in all aspects so whatever scheme the Wraiths plan on going with, Jensen will contribute. He's consistent, trains as often as he can, and meshes well with other players. This seems like a no brainer to me.
(Insert Austin Logo Here) Pick #5 Austin Copperheads select Quarterback Franklin Armstrong @moonlight:
Armstrong is without a shred of doubt, the top quarterback in this draft class. His touchdown to int ratio was phenomenal for a rookie, and he finished the season with the highest quarterback rating in the entire DSFL. With all of the QB needy teams in the NSFL this season, I feel like the new Austin organization chooses their leader quickly and Armstrong can definitely be the one for the job.
(Insert Chicago Logo Here) Pick #6 Chicago Butchers select Runningback Morgan Marshall @`EnfysNest`:
Along the same lines as the Copperheads pick, I feel like the Butchers quickly select their leader and player to build the team around. Marshall was undoubtedly one of the best running backs in the DSFL for season 14 with Forrest Gump being the only other back that I would comfortably put at this pick. He led the league in rushing yards and was second in touchdowns behind only Gump. The Butchers have plenty of picks to fill their new roster, but starting with a centerpiece like Marshall seems like the right call.

With the Yeti allowing the second most points this past season, it’s safe to say that they should use their first pick on defense. Their defensive line is struggling with all of their players in the TPE range of DSFL players. Even though they are losing their star QB to retirement, defense shouldn’t be put to the wayside. The Yeti do not have a second round pick as of right now so I could be wrong about them not going for a QB immediately but this is a mock draft after all.

Orange County at this point in time only have one feasible Cornerback on their team in Jonathan Rice. With this influx of speedy receivers and Tight Ends, the secondary is a part of the field that will need strong tackling and coverage skills. Lucas Knight is a player who seems to have both. He finished the DSFL season with 78 tackles, 13 pass defenses, and 5 interceptions. To me that screams balanced player who can do whatever is needed by a team.

The Liberty are a team who have a very good foundation on the offensive side of the ball, but they lost many games this past season by one touchdown or less. They need help in the backfield and to help them, I see none other than the touchdown man himself, Forrest Gump. This is a player who knows the endzone very well with 18 touchdowns in his rookie season in the DSFL. He’s a very active player and just landed the job of Tijuana Co-GM.

(This is my player)
The Sabercats are a solid all around team that prides themselves on their defense. With almost every other position on this team being set for success, the one that sticks out to me is the tight end position. As I stated above, where the tight ends go varies heavily based on how GMs value the usefulness of the position. Their current tight end is a season 12 veteran who hasn’t really been training as much as he should. Olsen has been a consistent player in the DSFL and landed the Co-GM job of the Kansas City Coyotes midway through the season so he seems like a great fit for San Jose. He's been the number two tight end behind Jensen since coming into the league, but he's on his way up the totem pole to take the NSFL by storm.
