Sweetwater's Commentary Has Got To Go

I’d like to preface this by saying that @Sweetwater is a very important person in this league. He runs the sims, makes sure everything is working smoothly between GMs and the rest of the sim team. Sweet took on a job that many of us don’t want to do, and I think it’s safe to say that we appreciate his contribution to the NSFL as a whole.

That being said, Sweet’s stream commentary in which he gets “hammered” is a terrible look for both the higher-ups of the league and pretty much the rest of the league as a whole. I understand that the sim commentary is supposed to be 18+, but Sweet’s commentary (especially on Friday, 9/13/19) is beyond this and is downright unprofessional.
From going on timeout sprees in Twitch chat for seemingly no reason, to talking about downright vulgar and graphic things that shouldn’t be talked about in a sim football stream, to even pure bullying. And I’m not talking about trash talk, I’m talking about straight up bullying someone on stream for legitimately no reason.

I invite you all to take a look at some clips from this most recent stream, in which Sweet got “fucked up”, and ask yourself if we really want to be broadcasting our sims (the most fundamental part of the NSFL) in this way. It’s also important to note that this type of behavior has gone on pretty much since Sweet started doing his commentary, especially his drunk commentary.

The stream goes on smoothly throughout those first couple of games. But the real fun starts when Sweet announces that he’s “awakened the kraken”, whatever the hell that means.

https://www.twitch.tv/videos/481098503?t=34m51s - Next, Sweet goes into his life issues… for some reason?While it’s pretty shitty he’s going through all of that, there’s no reason he has to vent to damn near 30 people that are just trying to watch a sim football league. He also rants about the “dumb fuck GMs” and how his simming job is so hard. Again, I understand the simmer job can be a bit hard but ranting to 30 people live on stream is a bit uncalled for. By the way at this point Sweet gives fuck all about the games and refuses to commentate. Isn’t that the sole reason he’s given a microphone in the first place?

After that, Sweet decides to join the rookie discord voice chat. This is where the stream goes completely downhill. I’m not quite sure who’s even in the voice chat, nor do I really care, and I'm not going to attempt to call them out because they really didn't do anything wrong. There isn’t a problem with Sweet entering the voice chat, but he should turn the microphone off if he’s gone completely off topic on sim football and won’t be remotely close to entering that topic again for the rest of the stream.

He doesn’t just talk about guns by the way, Sweet nearly goes into discussion about illegal immigration right before he stops himself.

Maybe we shouldn’t have someone who’s piss drunk running the stream. And I understand that this is just an innocent mistake, but it’s tough to argue that Sweet’s drunkenness didn’t play a role in that mess up.

However, we can assume that he’s talking about the rookie discord at this point… again, live on stream. We hear Sweet “banning people” from what I assume to be the rookie discord. But what really concerns me is what he says a couple of seconds later. This mentality of being able to do whatever he wants because he’s the simmer is a little shocking to hear. He’s basically inferring that he can be as toxic as he wants to without any repercussion because HO can’t find another simmer. Not the best thing to say when broadcasting the sim, Sweet.

But Sweet takes a turn for the worse when he starts to talk about a story someone told him about prison. I’m really not even going to write what he said, but you can watch the clip for yourself. This type of behavior is unacceptable for the league as a whole. Nobody wants to listen to a drunk dude talk about this stuff on stream. If it was exclusively in the rookie discord’s voice chat, that’d be fine. But for Sweet to broadcast this to 20-30 people is completely unprofessional.For the rest of the stream, the same mindless garbage is being spewed.

When I typed in chat that my player had hit this goal (completely innocently and by no means arrogantly), Sweet goes off on me. At the start, it could be classified as just some lighthearted banter, as he opens by saying my player is number 3 on a fumbles list, whatever. I don’t care about that. That’s something Sweet has been saying to me since forever, I couldn’t care less. What really sets me off is that he decides to start talking about some personal stuff about me and bashing me for seemingly nothing. This is straight up bullying, Sweet. There’s no reason for you to bring up this type of shit about me on a live Twitch stream. For you to start personally attacking me because my sim football player reached a goal that I’m proud about is low as fuck. And for this to be broadcasted and archived live as an official NSFL stream is a really bad mark on the league. Sweet is legitimately breaking the “don’t be a dick” rule while there’s nearly 30 people watching the stream. And for some reason, he’s breaking it on my behalf.

Sweet’s “drunk streams” (which are nearly every stream) have got to go and in my opinion, he should be restricted from commentary as a whole unless he’s got someone with him like timeconsumer. Someone who actually watches the stream and commentates on the stream and doesn’t just get wasted and bully people. The streams are a vital part of the league and they’re an outlet for the league to get together and watch their players in action. For it to be ruined by Sweet’s drunken rants is disappointing and can definitely leave a bad taste in the mouth of new players. In my opinion, either Sweet acts like an adult when broadcasting the league to Twitch, or he shouldn’t be able to “commentate” at all.

The good news is that I have made the choice (with full support from Dwyer) to stop doing commentary until I get my life in order.

If anything, this stream has been a wakeup call that I'm heading down a path that will ultimately lead to self destruction and cannot be continued.

I do apologize for going in that hard on you and anyone else, as well as generally being obnoxious as shit.

The only thing I can guarantee is that an event like this will never happen again.

I have a lot of personal issues to work through and I should not have let them carry over into the league, let alone the stream.

Good to hear. Things really didn't sound good while you were streaming and I hope you can get things in order.
