Quenton Bode had a busy offseason, but like every offseason, he continued to train and to work and push hard. He knows that he's a leader on this team and an integral part of the defense, and he takes that responsibility very seriously. With the disappointment of last season, he wanted to start Season 19 strong, and to show the rest of the league that he and the Second Line are serious contenders.
New Orleans had a tough Week 1 matchup, playing the defending champion Orange County Otters on their home turf, but Bode wasn't intimidated. He was as prepared for that game as he could be. But for some reason, he couldn't get into his rhythm. He couldn't make tackles, his instincts seemed to be wrong on nearly every play, and for some reason he just felt off. The Second Line left Orange County with a quality loss (if such a thing exists), but Bode ended the game with nothing more than four tackles. He was quiet on the trip home, a departure from his usual post-game attitude. Back in New Orleans, he went into self-imposed isolation, and seriously considered what had gone wrong.
No one is quite sure what realization Bode came to, but they can see the results. New Orleans won in Weeks 2 and 3, both games coming against tough divisional opponents, and Bode seems to be back to his normal self. He was named Defensive Player of the Game after the Arizona game, and the team voted to give him the defensive game ball for that week. It's clear that Bode has gotten past his poor season debut, but he certainly hasn't forgotten it. And you can be sure that he has Week 8--a home game against OCO--circled on his calendar.
After a 3-0 start, it's really hard to say that there are any "disappointments" after the first week of games. There are obviously areas we could still improve and get better as a team, but we started off the season exactly how we ended last season, as one of the best teams in the league. I think we've been performing just as well as people thought we would offensively and defensively, with some really great unexpected performances from some of my teammates, especially guys like Alex D., who has been on fire so far, and Lazer-Eyes, who has had a fantastic start to his rookie season. All around, I don't think we've disappointed. I definitely need to get back into the groove of things though. I expected this season to be another breakout year for me, but I haven't really been living up to my own expectations. I wouldn't really say that I've disappointed this season, but I could definitely be doing better, and that's exactly what I plan to do the rest of the season. But yeah, this Otters team is definitely something special. We've put together an amazing roster here, without any major flaws. But, the better the team, the greater the disappointment will be if/when we lose.
Playing for tijuana has been a dream come true. The most obvious choice to talk about is the lack of playing games and having to do a resim due to a unusual file having a problem.
No I am going to focus on the loss of a rival: Dre Uzond, by creator Nuk.
If you do not know what occurred with the Nuk fiasco, just go to the discord and ask. Screenshots should be shared.
Nuk and I were going to be friendly rivals, never really getting mad at each other but pushing each other to be great. I really did believe that Nuk and I were going to be a more respectful rivalry. Each playing better to stop each other. And that was what seemed to happen after week one.
We both came back from awful almost career ending injuries. We were both extremely involved rookies. People were saying we were the top two rookies when it came to involvement. Then the incident happened.
Dre Uzond went full AB. There is no other way to describe it. Nuk revealed some very weird unforeseen takes. He goes from being the most liked rookie, even more liked then Randy Vuxta, to one of the most hated rookies in NSFL history. After these claims came out, Randy went out on record stating "I am shocked to see these comments coming out from Dre. The man is a top talent on the field, however I cannot support someone who holds these beliefs. Dre and I are no longer friends, and I do wish he will get some help. Take a step away from the game and come back when you are healthy."
Portland is most negatively affected as they lose a guy who seemed to be a top corner, who is now retired. Randy Vuxta loses because I saw Nuk as a guy that I could see as the one who pushes me up to the limit. I lose someone who could have been a close friend. I am glad that someone like that has left the game, but if he was a decent person he couldve been in the league for a lengthy amount of time.
After a great off-season where I improved my overall game a ton, I was excited for the beginning of the season. Week 1 came and we had a great game. My team played well and I put up some solid numbers. I think we got a little ahead of ourselves because Week 2 came and things didn't go as well.
We were up against a tough Tijuana team so we knew we had to bring our "A" game. The problem is, knowing is easier than actually doing. Tijuana really handed us our lunches. They dominated the game and beat us 43-10. Personally, I couldn't get anything going. I only threw for 217 yards and 1 interception. Their defense were jumping routes, rushing me quickly, and just giving me no good looks out there. I tried to establish the run, but they were stuffing that as well. They were extremely well prepared and played their game plan perfectly. It definitely brought us back down to earth. Even after all the hard work and success form week 1, if you don't keep that same energy, the results aren't going to stay the same.
We'll be ready for next week and I think a loss like this will help us in the long run. Now we know what to expect and what happens if we don't execute our game plan and don't come ready to play every game.
Well after stomping Norfolk, those of us in Myrtle Beach were flying high, nothing but the wind in our sails. Kacey Dream, yours truly, returned an Interception for a touchdown yet again. This gives the Dream a defensive touchdown in every single season he has played since joining. However, the next game against Tijuana was not such a joyous occasion. Even though Kacey had swear that they had played a close game against Tijuana and had been extremely competitive, for some reason the final score said otherwise. I guess the thought that they had lost by a single score was merely a Dream. Either way, Kacey's regret is definitely that game and the way that it played out. They had perhaps celebrated a little too hard after the Norfolk game and some of the rookies were maybe not as prepared as they could have been. Either way, it left a decidedly sour taste in Kacey's mouth and he swears that next time it will actually be a close game and not just a Dream. Hell, next time they are going to beat Tijuana. They won't be putting up 43 point on us again, that's for sure. Kacey is shutting down their receivers if he has to cover both sides of the field.
Oh man, this is an easy one and it is definitely our week 1 loss against Philadelphia. We the Yellowknife Wraiths are coming back stronger than ever form last season, even with our tough loss in the Ultimus to the Orange County Otters. So starting off the season to one of the weaker teams of last season, the Philadelphia Liberty (who I know did improve over the offseason) and at home, it surely looked like a great way to start the season strong and with a good win. All that came pretty quickly crashing down to earth. After forcing them to punt on their first drive, Bigsby decided to fuck it and thrown an interception which allowed them to come back and score a touchdown. It was pretty back and forth for most of the game, but 4 interceptions, including a pick six from the Cooter the moonshine man really put us in a hole. In the end, the Liberty showed up more in the game and it left us with a sour taste in our mouth and with a 0-1 start to the season. Obviously we now have two wins after that game and showed why we will be a good team this season, but it still was quite a disappointment. Last year we also started with a loss, but it was against one of our toughest opponents, the Hawks and on the road. This should of been a favorable match-up at home, but we just did not show up. Let us see if next year we can start the season with a win!
Well, unless you live under a big rock in Hillbilly County, United States of America, by now you already know that there were some problems with the sim file in the DSFL. These situations are obviously crappy and even though i feel nobody did anything wrong (machines always mess up and sometimes it can't be corrected), it harms some of the users. I totally agree that in the event of a re-sim, they should be made as many times as needed to get the same results. And the Pythons lost both. But it makes sense. But to add insult to injury, we had a tie in the DSFL that now did not happen. So, instead of being 0-2 vs 2 teams 1-0-1, we are now vs a team 2-0. Regarding my player, I also saw 2 losses with decent stats transform into 2 losses with less than stellar stats. I think that Cue had 4 TDs to 1 INT before the re-sim and now I sit at 2-2. It might not seem that big of a difference, but when we spend the time we do on the game, we want to do the best we can stat wise.
Re-sims are never good, even if needed. Some will get better results, others worse.
Written Option: Once the season starts, sky-high optimism very usually comes back to reality. Write about a disappointment from the first week of games. It can be a play, a loss, or your a poor statistical performance.
Even though the New Orleans Second Line knew we were in for a tough test on the road in Orange County in week one, we all seemed to feel pretty optimistic about the game. It is a new year after all and we were ready to write a new script. We were actually tied with the Otters going into the game's final quarter, but unfortunately the Otters would put up 10 unanswered points, leaving New Orleans with a 0-1 record to start their season.
Overall, the loss was disappointing, especially with it being close going into the final frame. Personally, I was very disappointed in myself when the Otters scored their first touchdown of the fourth quarter, essentially putting the game away. I felt like I could have done more for the team to stop them from scoring, but I didn't. Overall I had a decent game: 11 tackles, 1 sack, 2 PD. But this drive definitely overshadows all of that for me. Then the two interceptions in the fourth quarter by our offense were just back breaking. The defense should have held but I really was hoping that the offense was going to pick us up. This will not define our season though, we have already experienced some big wins and devastating losses in the next weeks, but I am hopeful that New Orleans will rally and we can make some noise in the playoffs.
