*The Sylphreni Show - Episode 5: Draft Recap

Have another podcast here for you guys! Admittedly, was a little bit sleepy for this one given I recorded it towards the end of the draft. Loved watching the whole event, and figured I'd give my takes on the first 5 rounds or so as well as address a few trades. Let me know what you think!


What you can expect from the pod today:

• Analysis of the first five rounds
• Was Philly trading up to 1.04 worth it?
• A new drinking game, where you take a shot every time I say "steal" which I purposefully tried not to say a bunch, but still did..... That's not really in the podcast, just something I figured I'd leave her for Sloth (happy grading buddy.)

• Who revamped their secondary the best?

Great stuff, wish we had more picks in the early rounds of this draft to hear your takes on

Movie wise, it's not a deep cut but if you haven't seen The Big Lebowski please go watch it right now. Some other stuff ummm Snatch, Kung Fu Hustle, Shrek

First time listener, heard lots of positive stuff about your pod so thought I'd check this one out. Enjoyed it. Some thoughts:

About the Dallas/Austin connection if you didn't know - the other Dallas GM, Kyle, plays for Austin too.

On the Philly trade up to pick me: I'm told by other GMs that they also tried to move up to 4 to take me - there was a bidding war for the pick - and that Arizona traded down hoping I'd be there at 6. 'Rolling the dice' wasn't an option for Philly if they wanted me (and I'm glad they did because the feeling was mutual).

On the feeler/Heath Evans pick: Dude is 8th in the class for TPE, and they needed a TE because their TE was a regressing, inactive player (who they've since traded for a 3rd round pick). The reason another TE didn't go until Round 5 was because Phillips and Evans were so far ahead of the rest of the TE class. Evans was a great pick IMO.

Agree on Troen being a huge steal.

oh and Rise Against are sick.

Rise Against is fantastic.... Huge part of my teenage years. Lebowski is great, as are Snatch and Shrek.... Kung Fu Hustle, I'll have to look into. Thanks for listening! I hope to be doing some Chicago content in the near future, so don't worry!

Looooooove Rise Against. Saw them live once, absolutely incredible show (or at least what I remember of it.)

I did know Kyle was in Austin,just failed to remember it in the moment. I also failed to mention SJS also took Matty Ice as their K/P, another KCC guy.

Philly clearly got their guy in you, and at the end of the day that's really all that matters. TBH, regardless if it's you or the Stanislaw pick I critiqued as well, any of you in the top 10 or so were pretty interchangeable and I was nitpicking at that point. I've seen you on the site a fair bit and am excited to see what new heights you bring Philly to. Nothing but love!

Heath Evans makes SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much more sense now that they've processed that trade. Obviously I had no idea that was in the works, but with it done I agree its a great pick. He's going to do big things there.

Troen about to make some teams regret not picking him. That's all I'll say. Think that guy is going to be an absolute UNIT.

Good to hear, keep doing what you're doing my man.

Yeah Kung Fu Hustle is wacky but very funny. Unfortunately don't have much to offer that's too off the beaten path. What are your recommendations?

JPach taught me everything he knows..... Which admittedly, was one thing. But it was a very important one thing Glad you liked the pod, and I'm glad to be a small part of this league, yall are awesome!

PMoney! Editing back through, yeah, I did say your name alot.... But it was TOTALLY warranted and potentially my best take in the entire thing. You going two rounds too late is insanity, and I look forward to seeing you tear it up on the Wraiths!

It's a great point on Austin. It'll be interesting to see how they overcome losing their first. That said, they've been very intentional with their trades, essentially improving their first 3 picks in next years draft. Will be interesting to say the least, but if they win another Ultimus, it's all worth it!
